Alright folks , we are heading into Winter here in the top half of planet , long nights , cold days , and some cabin fever . Let's see some ride reports to keep us from needing some mood altering drug . Here is your chance to be a star . Go

OK Dusty.
I'll kick it off with this re-tread, for the one, or perhaps two who haven't seen it already.
It was kinda fun.

^^^Nick does really nice work :thumb:
However don't let his brilliance keep anyone from posting here . Fotoguzzi has some brilliant older work also , as do many other members . Was talking to Deke last night , which is where the seed of this idea was planted .

I did ride from Okla City all the way to Stonehenge on a single trip. Soley riding my motorcycle all the way there and back.

You'll also find a replica at Maryhill, Washington (next to the Columbia River), which looks very much like this one.

I went to the poor man’s replica a couple of miles North of Salisbury UK.
It couldn’t have been the real one, it looked too small and not old enough...!

Come on you shy types , give us some reports .

But I've already stocked up man.

Well, this is kind of a boring report, but you asked for it. A cold front came through Tampa last Monday so a couple of friends and I went south to Key West on Tuesday. Temp in Tampa was 43F. That's cold for us. Key West was 70F and we can live with that. Saw lots of gators traveling the Tamiami Trail and some 4 foot long Iguanas in Key West. My friend is retired military so we got to stay in a trailer on the Navy base. Only cost us $20 each per night. Can't beat that for Key West lodging. Returned to Tampa Thursday after it warmed back up. Told you it was boring. :embarassed:

Nothing boring about this , just add some detail please . Thanks
Dusty

Details Dusty? There's only one way in and one way out of Key West. One Norge (mine), 2 ST 1300 Hondas ( one running a car tire on the rear ) and one K1600 BMW. We drank a lot of beer :boozing:

On Saturday I rode into the foothills of the Snowy Mountains, to Carabost State Forest. It was only 70km (43 miles), but it's perfect road for a Griso. Fast, undulating sweepers. Quite a few with a reducing radius. Much fun was had. It was a very pleasant 26° C (78° F).

I’ve had these on here before, so if you don’t want to know the result, look away now..!
They are old hat but here goes, you DID ask for it..
I’ve got every PhD in Creswick trying to teach me how to post video, I used to be able to but I forgot.
I’ll get there though..

Most of the stuff I post as ride reports are interspersed with comments on the forum.
I tend to post during the trip because I forget too much over the 6 or 8 weeks.
Anyone who wants to can search..
“Europe and Nordkapp trips”
Or
“Almost that time again“
and that will take you through some of the shenanigans and memories from the journey. I don’t expect there’ll be much for the reader, but it’s there if you wish..
Huzo.

How about a shop report?
Always hated using paint stripper - even before I knew it was a carcinogenic neurotoxin...all the flakes of paint and sticky gel and wondering what to do with it. Now the methylene chloride has been removed so it's safer but you have to spend even more time with it.
Decided to try lye. There was a hot tank where I worked as a kid and it removed most paint so tried it on the stove. Brackets and bolts were painted red. After a good hot soak paint scrubbed off with a toothbrush.

It worked and a friend had a dead water heater so scaled it up. Parts have only been soaking a few hours so no final pictures, but the paint is coming off.

What are your impressions of the V85 Zinfan ?

What are your impressions of the V85 Zinfan ?
My favorite bike. I haven't had many bikes.. 85 Honda V-45 Sabre, 87 Kawai 750 Ninja, 2007 Triumph 1050 Tiger, 2013 V7, 2015 Stelvio and the V85. The V85 just seems to work for me, not as grunty as the Stelvio but it gets the job done and I enjoy the lighter handling of the smaller bike. The only issue I had on my trip in Mexico was the left side rider foot peg started to come loose when the circ clip holding the pin on was lost somewhere. I just removed the clip from the passenger peg and put it on the rider peg and just today went to the hardware store to get a replacement clip and re-installed the passenger peg. Had times where the premium gas wasn't available so ran 87 octane and the bike never noticed the change.

I’m glad it’s standing up well to the use you’re putting it to.
I haven’t ridden mine too much yet, just doing some modifications..

I got home last week from a Moto Guzzi Experience Tour in Tunisia, with a pre-trip visit to Mandello del Lario and the Moto Guzzi Museum.
I'm working on a full trip report, but here are some teaser photos for now.

Moto Guzzi!! Sponsored (and I suspect subsidized by MG) Check out tours here: https://www.motoguzzi.com/en_EN/Experience/Info/
For this tour I think you had to be a member of MG Proud Owners (The Clan in Europe).
All inclusive - meals, gas, lodging, ferry from Genoa, and motos - although you could ride your own Moto Guzzi.
And the price was 2/3s or half of a similar trip when you add the typical not included expenses.
That dinner photo was only half of the group - the evening after we returned to Genoa. The rest had already headed for home.
