I can no longer find my Photobucket account and the site does not seem to be working anymore, anyone know if the service has finally died?
Looking for suggestions on what platform to use that shared the file sharing characteristics to post pictures on this web site and others.
Thanks
Jim

great luck with Digital Photo review. It's more than hosting, it's a photography and camera review site and forum. Free and reliable.

I use FLICKR - and they sent out email notices wanting everyone to get a paid account for $5/month and saying that they were losing millions of $$$, letting everyone have those "free" accounts.
Used to have photobucket, and maybe they were in the same shape. Hosting anything is not free.

Onedrive, which is included with a Hotmail or Microsoft account, works good. A free account's storage space is probably too small to be your main photo library, but it can hold a few hundred images. Google Photos doesn't seem to support embeddable links, at least not without some DIY HTML.

Sure it's not free, but there's a right and wrong way to deal with people.
Photobucket was 'free' for years (selling prints and ads, I'm sure) ... then, after millions of people had thousands of photos uploaded and linked to sites like this one, they said "Nice photos you have there, be a shame if something happened to them. Just pay $400 and we'll make sure nothing bad will happen ..."
No buying dinner, no kiss, nothing. THEN after no one paid the extortion, they THEN went to a $5 a month deal, and found that they had alienated the entire world. I'm not surprised, nor sad, that they're gone. I've still got my originals, I'll just have to re-upload the ones that aren't already there to SmugMug.

I use Flickr too, and got that warning email. I don't want to go paid, but don't want to lose it all either.
Reminds me of how Yahoo Groups recently passed away.
Why can't these sites make $ the way Facebook, Twitter, etc all seem to do?

That would be by selling info to advertisers. So I use Google Photos

That would be by selling info to advertisers. So I use Google Photos
Google, and it's huge conglomerate of services, has a horrible reputation of selling subscriber info. Your purchase info, your search history, profile parameters, etc.
Google coyly gets around this, because they extract identifying elements before the profile is sold. I.e. your name, tele, dob, are removed before they sell all your other info. They merely sell what your profile does, buys, patronizes, without your name attached.
So that makes it "okay."

I had Flikr first, then switched to photobucket when I had 200 Photos and had reache my limit.
Had PhotoBucket until they wanted money.
Went back to flicker until my computer would not let me in. Something about too many re directs.
I give up. No more sharing photos on forums.
I can still share with faceBook....

I'm using imgzeit, too. 11 bux a year is affordable for even a Guzzi Guy. Besides that, his dad is a V11 sport guy. Like an old Guzzi, it's a simple no nonsense site that just works.
