Title: Moto Guzzi in 2020
Post by: hauto on December 25, 2019, 09:24:48 AM
I know this has been kind of kicked around before. What does MG build and sell in 2020? I'm sure most dealers are sitting on too many V7 and V9 already. At this point even V85 are on the floor waiting for a sale. They can't just build v85 Travel and 10th anniversary racers all year. There seems to be a incentive sales program going on to clear out stock.I know my opinion is based on the US market.Which brings me to my thinking, they will introduce a V85 street model in early 2020.They did not want to show there hand at EIMCA knowing they have to clear out stock first.

Believe it or not...U.S. dealers have been notified that there will be: 2020 El Dorado and Audace 1400s! Huh?

My long-held belief is that Moto Guzzi actually builds these things in batches, and then sticks a VIN # on it as time goes on and inventory fluctuates. With both of those models normally sitting on the floor at least a year, they couldn't have built more.

Is there a market for a full on desert X MG? That concept looks different, but not enough to plunk down 15k for me. Now maybe with top line Ohlins suspension, make that aluminum air box into a fuel cell, slim the tank and move air box under it, 21 and 18 wheels, beef up the swinging arm pivots, high routed exhaust and serious weight reduction. Oh yeah and throw in a few more hp's  How many could they sell?

Given their previous form of making various models using the same Drivetrain (Think 1200 Sport/Griso/Norge/Stelvio etc), they must have a few other models coming soon using the V85 Base.
It would make no sense not to, for such a small-scale manufacturer.

The idea of taking a Moto Guzzi out into the desert seems terrifying to me. There's no Uber in Death Valley.

There have been several times I've thought, "sure glad I'm on a Guzzi.."
