The ski school celebrates Norwegian New Year, which is four pm in Colorado. When the lifts shut down we ski directly to the bar.

You'll know it's midnite when you hear all the guns going off. Never mind, it has started already. Gotta love Oklahoma.

It's not even 9pm yet and they are already going off. Might have to put my helmet and flak jacket on

A few minutes to go on the east coast. I'll be in bed long before it hits the west coast. I wish only peace, health, and family happiness to all of you.

I was in bed by 8:30 but oddly woke up at 6 minutes to midnight. Didn't feel like getting dressed to go out and see if the fireworks atop Pikes Peak were visible. Happy New Year to you all.

This was too funny; as I read this last night, I thought, well that's interesting, must be a typical American thing. As a Canadian, I've been on the planet for 6 decades, I never knew that was a thing, nor had I heard it take place.
I moved into this rural, new to me area 4 yrs ago, but last night was the first night I've stayed home here for NYE.
Right around midnight, I could hear huge bangs and cracks outside, I thought it was trees coming down in the cold storm winds, but then recognized all the gunshots going off around me, some close by and some far off in the distance; :thumb:
It was bizarrely comforting; I had received news earlier in the day that the wife of a very close friend had just passed, she had succumbed to an intense struggle with cancer, that she was destined to lose.
The sound of the shots from all the young active hunters living in and around my area, really hit home,,, live as large and as out loud as we can while we're here,,, this life is the real deal main event, it's not a dress rehearsal.
Wishing all of you the best in the New Year, good health, good fortunes, and good times.
When it's right, ride safe and often.
Tks for sharing

In the two plus weeks I've been here in SoCal we've had two winter storms, a tornado in L.A., and I've had the Sinus Infection from Hell. There'll probably be rock and mud slide remains on the canyon roads, but the sun is shining, and we'll give it a go.

Bev has type B flu, so we didn't go out. She's just getting over it after a week. Chuck, you might check if you have the flu. Dry cough, sinus infection and feeling really badly are the symptoms.
Forgot that we watched the "Big Lebowski" last night.

We had family over. It was fun, but I was in bed at Midnight. As the explosions and gunfire faded, so did I. Fishing was good today, so Jose and I spent the day catching and releasing bass. No field peas or cabbage, but Nana made up some dandy chicken enchiladas. I watched some football and drank some beers.
All told, I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Perhaps, in a year like 2020, we can look at things a little more clearly...

Was in bed well before midnight , but was awakened by flashing lights from two police cars at 2 AM . No idea what was going on , one car was in a yard across the street , the other in front of the neighbors house . Just went back to bed

Strange deal here the night before. There was helicopter over our small housing addition for a couple of hours. No shining lights, just a hovering copter. Nothing on the news about it.
Freaky stuff.
