Title: Do NOT say you weren’t offered..!
Post by: Huzo on January 12, 2020, 04:50:03 AM
Clearly Mandello 2021 is looming up like an approaching locomotive at 100 mph.
Just as clearly, a major part of the cost of getting you and your bike from Oz or U.S. to Europe, is the shipping of said bike. I have a friend who lives/works in Paris who owns several bikes..(mostly BMW’s), I visit there when I am in France.
Here are a couple he let me ride..

They are garaged in Paris and some are in Maringues (Auvergne).
He has about 15...
Anyone who wants to go to Mandello 2021 who cannot due to the associated cost of bike shipping can let me know here and I will contact him and see if there’s a spare GS lying around, he has a few and knowing him as I do, there’ll be a pretty sweet deal that he could pull out of his fundament.
I can virtually guarantee that your cost will be expendables only...He’s a “pay it forward”, type of guy..
BTW..He will be coming along, he is booked to stay with me across the road from Agostini’s and is going to buy a Guzzi for the trip..!
THIS IS AS AFFORDABLE AS IT WILL EVER GET...!
It shits me to tears when I hear that “bucket list” thing..
That’ll be the bucket that you’ll eventually kick, and y’all will have missed your chance.
You could fly into Charles de Gaulle and I’ll arrange to meet you there and take you into Paris to get the bike..(I’ve done the same in London).
There are two names that spring to mind that work like dogs to maintain this forum technically and to keep decency standards at an acceptable level..
I would love to make it possible for at least one of them to attend by arranging a bike...Don’t die wondering, I won’t.
You know who you are...

Thanks for the generous offer. I'm planning to ride up to Canada and ship/fly on their Fly and Ride program. Have fun, hope to see you there. :bike-037:

Air Canada, Air Transat and WestJet will fly your bike to Europe in the summer. Each airline has a website description, Air Canada has the best website. This past summer I flew my bike to Europe on Air Transat and back on WestJet. I used Motorcycle Express to handle my bookings and organizing all paperwork plus arrange the insurance. It’s worth it if you are going to be in Europe for more than four weeks vs the cost of rental.

Thanks for beating me to the reply. What Canuck750 said although I didn't know WestJet also didi it.

My concern is that with the crowds, I'd never be able to get within shouting distance of Mandello.  I've been to the Guzzi factory once, and it's not a big place nor is the street it is on.  Has Moto Guzzi announced a venue for events other than Mandello del Lario?

Yes you would.
There are several camping grounds in and around Como..
It’s a 30 minute ride on good roads, done it dozens of times.

Usually, the city major opens the reservation park around the lake for campers, you can put up a tent only 10-15 minutes from the factory...

Not sure when during the year it will be but Louisa and I intend to visit Mandello sometime next year.

Given her work, it will likely be for a week in the Lake Como area, and a week elsewhere in the northern half of Italy.

Camping is not an option

I’m not going to Italy for the Moto Guzzi centennial. But I’m sure looking forward to reading reports, seeing photos and watching videos from those of you who attend. I’m excited for the Moto Guzzi brand as a centennial is a wonderful achievement.
