No connection to Seller...

The pics look familiar, so it's been listed before. Mirrors are aftermarket.
Does anyone know the true numbers for the '93? The seller claims 280 US bikes, but the numbers I've seen were 283 made worldwide. Europe had them earlier than the US in '92, so that may have caused confusion? Anyway mine is number 00031. I'd be curious of other member's Daytona serial numbers.

what's with the white wheels? they look so odd to me... like gaitors over your dress shoes and under your gangster pants. is that stock?
-
Yes, that's correct. White was stock. They were very popular back at that time and a lot of bikes had 'em, but just a stupid idea...unless you liked cleaning wheels all the time.
And, no...the 280 number is wrong. Something like 28 would be more accurate.

Guzzi has a long history of referencing design details and the colors of their production models back to their race bikes. The Daytona (with its white wheels and red bodywork) is just one example.

Those production numbers are correct, I'm sure.
But, where it all seems to break down is trying to match serial numbers to anything meaningful. Years back, I tried to jot down every serial number Daytona that came up, but gave it all up when I was up to four different Daytonas with serial number 17. When the two-seat model came out, it seems that Guzzi just recycled earlier serial numbers, but there are discrepancies even within the single-seat models.
So, while the first year Daytona was 1992, the first Daytonas imported to the U.S. were all 1993 models, but, were still given #1 and #2 serials (those being sent to Dave's Cycle in Mesa AZ). Do Guzzi serial numbers start over each year? No; I don't believe so, but their system is not straightforward.

Guzzi use a letter to designate year of build. Numbers after that could well repeat in different years.

Last time I saw one was in Elkader 2013. Earl from Topeka, KS was selling his.

Just a fancy Centurao.....

According to the below figures, the 93 Daytona weighs 452lbs VS. 492lbs on the 96 Daytona RS. Where is the extra 40lbs?

The early 851's had a white wheels and frame.

One time, many years ago, while drinking the blue/white kool aide, I saw a Black Ducati 851, w/white wheels. Stunning. I mimicked that look on more than one bike since; the latest a repainted V7III racer, cum Special. R3~

"blue/white kool aide " ? Don't want to jump to conclusions  . Peter
