Title: Lemans I : One over piston rings

I am putting together a Lemans engine (83mm) with one over pistons and a set of rings for both pistons that I inherited for the project.  The only issue is that both oil rings do not have the spring that goes behind the rings, though I do have one spring which is clearly too big for the ring. To be on the safe side, unless someone says I don't need the springs is to find a pair of one over rings MG#14060652.

Anyone have a suggestion.

Deves uses a 4 piece oil ring - two rings with an expander and spreader. None is compatible with the Tom's rings.

Tom: If you're okay with used expander springs, I can send you some.

I think that I'm going to take another route with these barrels and pistons. I purchased another set of barrels and pistons (stock 83mm) awhile ago and I'm going to take them over to the machine shop this morning and have them measure everything up, let them clean up the barrels and install new standard rings. I had it in my head that I should use the original parts but in this case I'm just going to take this route unless the machine shops says there is a problem.

And I finally figured out what was going on here, one set of rings has an oil spring and the other oil ring isn't machined for a spring. Maybe this will all work fine, but being a completely novice engine builder I don't want to find out the hard way.
