Nice. Other than the dent in the rear guard, it looks very clean & unmolested. Definitely under-utilised. Even the headers don't show much use. And it's the faster, red one too. Somebody grab it.

Too bad it's on the other side of the country. I would be all over it at that price.

Yes, and that's "asking." Throw in a little negotiation...

Why ?
Do you think it’s overpriced ? Why screw the poor bastard’s head to the floor ?
If you want it cheaper, just do it the old fashioned way and steal it from him.

Don’t you think it would make it from one side to the other ?

In the States if it isn't overpriced its at the tippy top of the range. The Breva BB and especially the SB was never a desirable bike. Couple that with lots of way more desirable late model V7 variants on the market the SB Breva at 2K is no smoking deal or even average deal.
-
But surely desireability is in the eye of the beholder, so one person’s assessment of the level of such cannot be foisted on someone else.
My stinking old bucket of bolts Mk2 is an abomination compared to my Norge or V85 yet it’s deemed to be “desireable”.
Rough as guts piece of outdated junk..
-
I guess there simply aren't that many SM Breva beholders out there?
-
Having acquired and rescued a 2004 BB for my wife. I have totally enjoyed the lightness, acceleration, and flick ability of the BB, and while it doesn’t have the power and stability in nasty side wind conditions or allow comfortable 600 mile days like my 07 Norge or my 03 Ev. But as I’m getting older (66) there are times I consider downsizing and getting one for myself. Alas 7 bikes are the wife’s and my space limit. Perhaps selling the 3 Yamahas would convince her of my sincere need for one of these.
-
Don’t you think it would make it from one side to the other ?
Sure it would but I doubt the ancient rider could especially this time of the year.

Agreed, Huzo.

I guess we can all agree the it is not underpriced as it’s still f/s

Well, not to put too fine a point on it, but the man who "screws the poor bastard's head to the floor" with an $1800 offer is doing quite a bit better for the owner than YOU are, with your offer of $0.00 and no tenths ..... ?
If I had a bike for sale, I'd a whole heck of a lot see a man with a trailer and $1600 cash in his hand than to see someone saying "You're screwing this guy if you don't give him his asking price, don't be an arsehole!" and offering nada.

Right you is. Beauty and desirability are always in the eye of the beholder, or in this case the person with cash.
Now in the interest of "balance," we turn to the....... "experts."

So Lannis.
If I adopt your rationale, a guy who’s selling his bike because he’s fallen on hard times would be grateful if I turned up and offered to take it away gratis, at the same time that another bloke offered him $50 bucks.
He should be happy that he has $50..
BS..
I just don’t see the need to put him over a barrel and have your way with him.
If he put $1800 on it, y’all would try your luck at $1600.
Reminds me of that piece of contrived garbage “American Pickers” or “Hardcore Pawn”.
Of all the things I could be justifiably accused of, failing to throw money at people selling bikes is not one of them.
Oh and another thing...?
I don’t live in the ‘States..(mercifully).

I don't know whose rationale that is, but you just invented it, so you discuss it. How is offering someone money for his bike "screwing him" or "having him over a barrel"? It's HIS bike, he can tell the person offering him money to p!ss off and not come back. HE'S in control; how is he getting "screwed"?
And thanks for the bigoted remarks smearing a whole country to make yourself feel generous and virtuous. I think it's merciful that you don't live here too.

Sounds like our cultures, when it comes to private sales of used/pre-owned stuff are somewhat different. Here, at least in my part of the country the art of the deal is a time honored tradition. As a seller, I never publish my rock bottom price, as I know that a prospective buyer will want to haggle. As a buyer, I fully expect a seller's asking price to be higher than what he will truly accept. My rules for haggling whether I'm buying or selling, have cash in hand as money talks and bullshit walks.
I found my Monster on Craigs List last fall. The asking price was very reasonable. I sent the seller an email and asked, "If I showed up with cash and a trailer, would the be any room to move on your asking price?" He responded by taking $300 off of his asking price. The next weekend I showed up at his house with cash and my trailer and brought the bike home. Done! Both parties happy.
If you Ozzies do these types of things differently then good on you. Don't pick on us Yanks for doing it the way we do.

Unless a seller indicates the price is not negotiable its negotiable.
No seller is obliged to accept any offer a buyer submits. They freely choose to accept or reject it. Sure there are factors weighting in on the amount they will accept but no different than there are factors weighing in on what a buyer will spend.

Very true. It is a local cultural thang!
I spent 12 weeks in Saudi Arabia in the early 1980's. Americans who had been there for a while told me that when you go down to the Bazaar, it was customary to dramatically haggle, get upset throw up your hands, raise your voice, and threaten to walk away, before settling on a price that was lower than the initially quoted price. I was told that the surest way to insult the vendor was to pay the full asking price without going thru the social bonding process of haggling. Put of the fun for a large number of people seems to be the hunt and conquest aspect of completing the deal.
Might not work the same in the big city for the sex trades, I'm not sure.

Its a Breva 750 not sure of the year but somewhere between 2002 & 2009.

Is that the Breva you purchased fro Motogeezer ?
Dusty
-
One and the same, Dusty. It's a 2004 and the mileage was about 57K when I bought it. That seems high compared to the ones that are listed with such low mileage, but I'm not concerned because I know how it was taken care of before I bought it. There's plenty of them out there with much higher mileage with little problems. I fail to understand how people can own a 15 to 20 year old Guzzi and not ride them hardly at all.
-
I’m sure I’m in the minority here but I prefer the styling of the Breva 750 to that of the v7 small block varieties.

To me, they're just completely different styles of bikes, so I can't say I'd prefer one to the other.
The V7 line, I'd compare to BMW R65s and Guzzi V50s and Honda CB1100s and other "standard" bikes.
The Breva would get compared to the more swoopy sport bikes. I definitely have preferences among those! :thumb:
Lannis
-
I also prefer the V7 styling, but if I did not already own a V7 I think that I would be shopping for a Breva 750.
It's classic vs modern...and considering the design of some newer motorcycles, I'd have to call the Breva a "modern classic" or maybe a "contemporary classic".
Anyway, that's just my ramblings.
-
Put me in the minority, but I prefer the Breva style, didn't at first but it has grown on me since owning it. The seat is all day comfortable for my bony butt and the inclusion of twin shocks and a round headlite is definitely "modern classic" style.

I gotta say, all the red Brevas I've seen don't do much for me, but that bike looks absolutely great!!!!
A few months back I bought a 2007 Nevada 750 that has only 4,200 miles on it.
I guess it all depends on the owner's priorities and other obligations. Or maybe because it was a Nevada, the first time they went to the local Moto Guzzi hangout and the Guzzitisti told them it was not cool, they might have been ashamed to ride it..... at least in broad daylight...

Interesting to see what a change of color can do for a bike's looks.
I think a Breva would look awesome in this color:

As do I. I did like the original V7 Cafe of the 2011ish timeframe. That made sense.

I love my little Breva, runs great, frugal with fuel, looks good, easy to throw a leg over. Only issue I need to solve is the distance between the footpegs and seat, too tight for my arthritic knees. Any seat guys out there?

lots of article out there on rebuilding seats. I think the preferred foam is rebonded foam. DIY and have fun doing it.
another method I have used to to get a second seat base. mount the second seat base to your bike, add spacers, then mount the original seat base and seat to the spacers. then head to an apolstery shop to hide the mess.

Thanks SIR REAL ED, I've built a couple of seats for dirt bikes and ATV's but have few upholstery skills and my regular seat guy is booked up till August. I'll talk to my local buddy who's built one seat for me already. Any other suggestions?
