I've used this tool successfully for a few years on my '04 Guzzi 1200 Sport, using Windows 7 Pro. Now that Windows 7 is out of date, I'm wondering if VDST will have problems if I update to Windows 10. Anyone have experience with this?

When you do the upgrade (not a clean format) windows 10 installation will tell you if something is not compatable at a certain point. Doesn't do it for everything though... best to contact software manufacturer. If anything, they should have an update for it.

VDST? Why would you use that clunky piece of crap when GuzziDiag is available?

Why in the world would you torture yourself with that horrible crap. TechnoRipoff pulled way too much money and time from me over that.
Get a cable for about $20, and do MUCH more, MUCH easier, with GuzziDiag. And it is supported.

As a matter of follow-up.
I followed someone' advice and checked with TechnoResearch. They got back to me in minutes and said it wouldn't be a problem. So, I went ahead and installed Windows 10. They were correct. No problem.
Why do I keep using what someone referred to as being a piece of crap? It's because it works for me. It has worked for me from the start and the bike runs just fine.
I've used the software for so long that I have no recollection what I paid for it, if I paid anything at all. Kind of a null concern at this point.

That is so weird. Back when I had VDST issues, it took many days to get back a reply, if I even ever got a reply. It almost always involved my sending them more $$$ for the updated cable/dongle/software. And after pouring a huge amount of dollars into the setup over the years, they eventually refused to even send me the latest software that I had bought. I had upgraded online, and the online VDST files had been turned off. I couldn't install my software on a new machine. They of course would let me upgrade for major dollars.
But I find GuzziDiag more user friendly and more functional, so I have moved on.

Me too. And Guzzidiag offers map read & writes. Why would you want to go anywhere else?

Okay, I must chime in.
I bought VDST years ago when it was the only option.
Read again: the Only option.
It was a struggle, but it worked. And I'm not going to fault anyone for making it work again.
You want the latest whiz bang technology, go to BMW. In their bikes you are hardly allowed to change the oil.
You want what worked a decade ago, go to Guzzi.
And that's a good thing.

I believe you will not be able to load it up in Windows 10 and are out of luck - at least that was my experience.
I, too was an early adopter when VDST was the only option for the individual for W5AM. I used it for TPS reset and it worked great on my Windows XP laptop.
When the display went out on that computer, I upgraded to a Windows 10 laptop. Figured since I invested in VDST and had the disc, I could just load it on my new laptop - no luck. I contacted Todd at GuzziTech where I purchased it and he responded immediately and forwarded my request for assistance directly to TechnoResearch. They requested photos of my cable set-up for some reason. I explained I just needed software assistance to load the disc up. They finally replied that they could not help. Todd offered Alaris for $260 as a solution.
I downloaded GuzziDiag and purchased the appropriate cables.

Mine works fine on Win7 but I had to get a different serial adapter for it to work. Then adjust the speed. Still get a bluescreen once in a while. Mine is the Pro model. I got info from RK for the serial adapter, what he was using. I paid plenty for it so I still use it. For mapping & downloading I use GuzziDiag & TunerPro.
