Title: Cracking Quota Crossover
Post by: Big_Jim59 on February 11, 2020, 10:45:20 PM
Hi Y'all,

I have been riding and enjoying my 2000 MG Quota but it has cracks at the right side, front cross over exhaust pipe. I know welding this will only be a temporary fix since the cracking is from vibration and poorly supported pipe structure. I could make a small brace to strengthen the joint but my fear is that the crack will develop some where else. I was thinking of developing a flex coupling for the front cross over. I hate to eliminate the cross over because it is a two into one system. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on what road to take with this issue?

By the way, I have just sold my house. I am moving out tomorrow and I will be homeless for the next few days. If I don't respond right away that why.

Jim

The front crossover is superfluous. Especially on a 2:1 system.  Get rid of it and save yourself some headaches going forward.

My Quota has a mistral y-pipe that deleted the crossover. It was installed by a PO. Do you want me to post pics of it so an exhaust shop or yourself can fab one up?

MG cycle has replacement downpipe without the front crossover.
I have a full mistrial system on mine. Sounds great.

A picture would be great if it's not too much trouble.
