Title: Quota oil breather hose inspection/replacement
Post by: GeorgiaGuzzi on February 20, 2020, 02:57:47 PM
How do I inspect and access the oil breather hose on my Quota? Do I need to remove the tank or are side panels sufficient? I’m gonna be tracking down the oil leak when the rain stops. Also what seals and/or gaskets would y’all recommend inspecting and replacing while I’m wrenching? Thanks, Robert

Also while I’m at should I replace the breather check valve? Or will it be valves?

Lot of guessing here for me. But if engine is similar to my '98 V11EV  and you are on the other side of 50K miles I'd replace the valve in the breather line.

Mine was sticking closed at 60K miles. The valve ball had worn the mating surface into a semi locking taper. I think that didn't help my oil leak.

Thank you very much!

Did you get your look see yet?  Take off tank & related bodywork, airbox top, hoses should be visible.

The ball/gravity valve just lifts out of it's fitting on top of the crankcase after you remove the breather hose. Yep, side panels and tank must come off.

Thanks guys. I’m finally gonna be able to get to it next week. It’s been raining here and with both bikes in the shed I don’t have space to work it without kicking one out. But weather is finally breaking so it’s time to get working on it! Finally! Been getting cabin fever.
