Title: Stelvio Bar Risers
Post by: Steve350f on February 24, 2020, 08:41:26 PM
Quick question.  Looking to add handlebar risers to my 2017 Stelvio.  Any suggestions or comments on these 2 types?  Also, with either of these would I need longer cables?

I have the Rox. You won’t need longer cables, but you need to re route the cables from aft of the forks to in front.

What HarveyMushman says, had the 1 1/2" Rox on my Stelvio.

Just for my curiosity ....

Why bar risers on a Stelvio?   I can see them on a Sport or Lemans, but the bars on my Stelvio are plenty high for me - I wouldn't want even another 1/2".    On a long trip, I stand up every 20 minutes or so to get the blood circulating, and the bars are just right for that.    I'm 6'2" with a 32" inseam, therefore "long-waisted" as they say ...

Is it for off-pavement riding?   Or just a really tall rider?

The Rox Risers work well, only downfall is it can be difficult to cinch the bolts on the bar clamp, as the bar now fouls at least one set of bolts...  I had good luck cinching them down without the bar in place, note the gap, then set the rearward bolts with the front bolts loose, then you can rotate the rox riser into place and cinch down the front bolts to get your gap correct....

I have used both kinds, on a few different bikes. I prefer the Rox risers, and have been using the set on my KLR 650 for a few years now, through lots of tough offroad riding and over 25k miles, and have yet to experience a failure with them.
They are more versatile than the other type, and allow a wider range of bar positions.
I've never had to lengthen cables for 2" or less of difference.

I appreciate the adjustability of the ROX riders but I took a simpler route. Bought some 2"x1.5" aluminum stock and cut to length;1" for me; and center drilled a 10.5mm hole for riser bolt and purchased a 1" longer bolt. Loosened the bottom bolts of risers under top triple clamp, remove bolt, place riser block under risers and install longer bolts. I only had to rejiggle the cables a bit but no replacement. Fairly cheap to change to get a real idea where you really need the bars. You can even machine the blocks to match the risers. Good luck. :bike-037:

Motobits may be another option for you.

So will I need to move ALL cables, including the break lines?

I have Motobits, works great. I had to open the cable ties, rearrange cables and make sure they were not binding.
No need to remove cables, just rearrange.

Lannis, I ride often standing (mainly gravel roads and in woods) and the raisers are necessary for me, other vise I would have to hunch down and you could not ride long like that....
We all have different leg heights, hand reaches and back heights.

I believe the Motobits is a 1” rise, the Rox are 2”.  May make a big difference.

With the Rox risers, am I going to have to separate the brake and clutch lines to reroute?

Just installed a set of MotoBits bar risers on a 2013 Stelvio. Fast delivery, great fit and easy install. Highly recommend Brent and Motobits.

A little late but no.  You remove the top plate from the forks, move the cables and brake lines, and reinstall the plate.
