From the MG website:
"Moto Guzzi V7 III Stone now has a stronger and more personal aesthetic connotation than it ever had before. The only one of the V7 III range to be produced in a limited and exclusive series" Really?
Looks good, but really all I can see is the LED winkers, and maybe the shocks are new. When I clicked the Technical Data tab, it just took me to the U.S. Home page.

The shocks that should have come on the Carbon Dark.
I think I would buy the night pack if I were to buy a V7III today.
-
Pretty sure with the $3500. I'd save buying a leftover 2017-19 i could find some shocks and many new decals!
-
Its got lots of little goodies you don't get on other Stones. The full Night Pack light system, leather tank strap, special red inlaid seat, shorter front fender off the Racer, full side covers off Special/Racer, special shocks, limited to 750, bar end mirrors and who know what else!

Yup, looks like a fun variant to the V7 line.
Sometimes I really don't get the nickel and dime comparisons.
I mean yeah it's part of the equation for most of us, but really I've never bought a bike I didn't spend another couple of grand on. And if a couple of grand make me happier with one model then the other I'm probably gonna figure out a way. Or if the price is THAT big a deal but something else or buy it used.
-
Looks nice, I dont think we are getting it in OZ.
-
I like it, particularly the rear fender and red accent treatments, and mirrors. Should have twin clocks and gloss paint on the tank, metal front fender, and would be perfect. I prefer drop in LED bulbs for head and tail lights, and turn signals are superfluous. I wouldnt want to have to replace the LED light units if/when they burn out. Likely big $$$

But still no tach.
-
I get all the "no tach" comments about some bikes in the V7 line, but if there ever was a motorcycle where the seat of the pant feel for what the motor is doing communicates to the rider when and where to change gears it's a Guzzi.
-
You can buy the Guzzi MMP which will allow your smart phone to act as a tach, among a host of other functions.
-
I say keep the speedo and give me a tach

I feel that way about all bikes. They all have their sweet spot. I do like to have a tachometer to let me know how low I can cruise at to conserve fuel.

I was considering spending a couple grand to improve the performance, suspension and looks of my V7 III but then I thought, "It still won't work as well as a stock V85 so why bother?" This Sport is probably one of the nicest executions of the V7 line but it's still a V7.

If I hadn't put the extra money into my V7III I would probably be riding a V85TT right now. I'm glad I put the money into it though. I love the bike and had a fantastic 40 mile curvy road ride before supper. I even got to the end of a fun curvy road and turned around and came back down it, and that is something I don't normally do.

It all depends on what you want out of a bike.
The new V85 wouldn't perform what I want as well as a V7 (or a V9).
But I don't do dirt and gravel if I don't have to.

Yes, this.

I rarely look at what the tachometer is reading, but I really like having it there. It just looks proper.

I feel the same way. Once I know a bike, I rarely need/use the tach, and keep the motor in the sweet spot, but like the data point and proper look. Same on my cars. The Convert I just got is the first street motorcycle I have owned without a tach.
-
Lighting make the tank finish hard to make out... Kinda loots a bit shiny, but I think its the stock dull primer gray that they use... not a fan.. Like the rest of it.. well other then needing a tach.. I think I would just as soon find a leftover blue special, and add some shocks to it...

The Jackal I bought a few years ago is the first bike I've had without a tach in, like, forever. Thought I'd miss it and maybe add one if I kept the bike.
Love the bike-don't miss the tach at all. I agree with the looks comments and in part have a V7 with the tach for looks alone. No, not that I bought the bike for the tach, it's just that the look............... ..............
Hum................ maybe I'm starting to sound like my 22 year old daughter, but what did you expect. It's SNOWING here, in Buffalo, no less. I'm all out of shape this morning. :embarassed:

I do miss the tach on my Cali stone.. Im starting to learn the bike better, and learning where it likes running, and where it doesnt from feel after the last year.... But I do still miss it. It might get one one day... Or I might not get around to it..but I do wish I had one. Im guessing if the stock spedo goes [and I hear they pretty much all do..] I might get a combo unit to have the simple look, but still have the engine speed info.
-
When I bought the Jackal, I swore I was going to option out the tach.
Instead, I added the second front disc, and the (actually very nice) adjustable shield.
I never looked back.

This is a good tip for some, although the kit is expensive (with mounts and cables ~$400). However, I'm already using my phone as a GPS device, and I really don't want to have 2 phones clipped to my handlebars.

Did anyone see a front fender ? Where did they put the front fender ???

I do like a tach, I ride by the tach. The speedo on mine with it's mpk/kmh combined mix is impossible to read, especially at night.
4000 rpm = 100kmh. Work everything from there. We ride on the other side of the road from the States, and this means the tach is dead in the line of sight to the centre line of the road. Looking at the speedo takes my eyes off oncoming traffic.
I know where the sweet spot is, and it gets even sweeter nudging the orange. I have hit the limiter once when I was overwhelmed with the eloquence of the La Franconis.
I do like a tach.
I wouldn't say no if someone gave me one of them thar V7llls. :thumb:

I like it, I like it alot. I wonder how much of an upgrade the Stone S shocks are compared to the stock units? Perhaps cosmetic only?
-
Might as well go ahead and get the tomato throwing started - it's Friday, right? Hurl away in my direction, but to me I've nearly always found that throwing money at a Guzzi for so called "upgrades" like fork springs, shocks, power commanders, etc. is more about the owner than improving the bike. I'll leave that comment there mostly. I've tried all those with limited and, most often, admittedly nil results AFTER I sold the bike :cheesy: :thumb: And not really meant as a criticism. I make non-performance choices for my rides that probably seem more of value in my mind than they actually are. But while I got the bike and the money invested in it, it's easy to convince myself it's worth it for whatever, ya know? Just sayin.
As per this one. Sharp. You'd be the only one in your city to likely own one, maybe the only one in your whole region. Nothing greatly new and continues Guzzi's long standing trend of making more "style" related and "limited edition" variants than pure performance upgrades, this even with the new shocks.

I love ya, bro, but you're a bit off center there. Plenty have documented the stock V7 as delivered bucks the owner off the seat repeatedly no matter what the setting. If THAT is what you mean-ok. But changing the rear to remain fully planted and in control is not a "styling exercise" in any way, shape, or form.
In the frost heaved roads on the North East compliance at the rear of the motorcycle is a must.
Carry on.

Point of order.
Depends on the size of the guy and WHERE in the North East - we have VERY little to no frost heaves here in South Jersey, and I don't recall all that many in PA either.
But man I do remember hitting a few that puckered me (on the JACKAL and BREVA1100) when I would go to the Damn Yankee Beemer/Guzzi Rally some years back.
So maybe it also REALLY matters where the rider lives.

To each his own then :thumb:  Just saying that's been my experience. I'm sure someone would tell me the Agostini pipes I had on a couple of Guzzis was throwing a match in a pile of money  But it sure didn't sound that way to me
-
i too have invested in suspension parts. i have never had a bike that i could not ride with the stock suspension, but found the improvements brought about to take the ride from acceptable to a real pleasure. bmw's were easy to do because of the front "paralever" suspension. with that, you did not have to pull springs from the forks, just changed one spring/shock unit. they took bikes that must have been sprung for 240 pounders and jolted on every bump to smooth riders with much more controlled handling. well worth the money in my personal opinion.
btw, the 2 guzzis i have had have come with factory suspensions that have worked well for me.
-
Agostini pipes? A MUST to unleash that glorious sound of the V7.
