Title: V11 dash cluster
Post by: Litre1000 on April 09, 2020, 11:50:58 AM
I was looking at a V11 Sport Lemans that seemed kinda nice, maybe. And then I saw the dash. Not sure I like this...

The ITI branded gauges of the era weren't the most reliable, there are plenty of aftermarket items of which this is one which I'm sure will do the job, I would however get rid of the short levers, on roadbikes at least they universally crap.

I wouldn't waste my money on those. The Speedo for sure is going to fail. Just a matter of (not much) time. Several on the V11 Lemans forum have changed to Speedhut clocks. They can look factory, and work. A search there will come up with tons of info.

Docc just posted his Speedhuts this morning. They are also available in black to replace the ITIs.. and with whatever logo you want.

You could ask if has the original dash and providing the loom's not been butchered reinstall it and a couple of SpeedHuts

I used an old Harley dash on my Sporti (well Magni with Sporti running gear). The Magni faring made the lights impossible to see and a distinct heads down was required to read the gauges

Installed the Speedhuts and they work great, although depending on what options you go for they can be a bit of a pain to wire in

Tell Speedhut they are for a motorcycle, they won't guarantee waterproofing but do add extra sealant.

Get the speedo with the remote cable for zeroing the ODO (I didn't and wished I had), seen some really nice installs with these gauges

I had no idea there were other options available. That brightens things for me. Now to delve deeper into the bike to see what kind of condition it’s really in.....
Thanks for the info!

The Speedhuts are only 1 inch deep so you can reduce the rear cover, also replace the idiot lights with LED lamps which are easy to see in bright sunlight.
The LEDs don't need sockets because they will last forever and sockets are a weak link anyway, you can see that I chopped some of the lamp holder away and also 3/4" from the cover
The low fuel light and Indicator light need special treatment.
Pictures taken when I converted my VII Sport over, don't ask me how the muffler got in there.

The type 194 lamps are a perfect fit for the dash. They have a shoulder that allows them to be fixed in with JBWeld. They are an AC lamp so you dont have to worry about polarity.

Shortly after buying my 2004 V11 Sport @ 8000 miles my ITI tacho died.

I spent too much time trying to find someone to fix it & then eventually bought a replacement. It works fine but after Docc detailed getting his Speedhut gauges, I realised for only a modest amount more money I could have gotten a better product with more features.

V11LeMans is the dark back room where the obsessive V11 Sport owners are 'socially distanced'

I have another question regarding the 2003 Sport Lemans...
Does it share the same basic frame / dimensions as the 1995 Sport?
Meaning, when you sit down on it, is the reach to the bars the same?

From deep dark memory Haven't ridden a Lemans in some time. The seat seems to be lower and I suspect the footpegs the tank may also be a bit shorter. The bars are definatly higher, this website may help https://cycle-ergo.com/ has both bikes although it claims the 1100 sport seat is lower than the Lemans seat which I find har to fathom although 18inch rear wheel of the crabed 1100 sport vs the 17inch wheel of the injected model may be part of that along with spring preload I regularly run etc etc.

Yes, Cadre does have the bike. Seems worth looking at. Almost 6 hours away from where I live. Can’t even enjoy a “stay-over” thanks to the lockdown!

I had a 93 LeMans then purchased a 97 Daytona and the rear to the bars on the LeMans is much more comfortable than the Daytona. I don't believe there is any difference in ergo's from the Sport to the Daytona.

I have sat on a 95 Sport and liked the reach to the bars. Was hoping the 2003 is similar. I’ll tell ya what I didn’t like....
Riding the BMW S1000rr and the Honda 2014 Fireblade. Those bikes felt too damn small!

If you fitted clipons to the forks you'll probablly find the reach is similar.
