I just ordered a 5-liter jug of LiquiMoly 10w-60 Synthetic motor oil at $41.05 for the jug and free shipping. That's two complete oil changes for my extended-sump V7. I had to pay sales tax, so the total was $44.45. I believe that is $9.00 per liter, way cheaper than the $13.99 per quart I've been paying at NAPA auto parts. If you order that oil, take your time with the order process. You want a single order, not a "subscription" where they send you oil every-so-often. And you want to select the delivery date that gives you free shipping.
If anyone on the forum has been unhappy with LiquiMoly, please let me know... I didn't even know there WAS such a thing as 10w-60 until last year...

Thanks for the the heads up . I will have to get something for the Griso pretty soon. I dont think there is alot to choose from in a 10-60 wt. full synthetic.

Ive been using the 10w60 liqui moly for the past few years. No complaints other than I wish it would cost $1.00 a litre. LOL

That’s some good oil, no need to make a thread?
-
thanks for the post...I was just thinking about ordering....though the best price I see on Amazon is 46.50 :)
I'll be ordering
-
Thanks I will order one myself. My Audace is coming up due for a change. My local O'Reillys get $14 for a quart of Castrol. The Audace takes 4 quarts so $56 plus tax. I just changed oil in my Cummins Ram, $40 for 12 Quarts of 15W40. Now we won't discuss what the two fuel filters cost. :weiner:

I'll have a look next time I order oil ... I just ordered my usual, Motul 7100 4T 10W60, and it was $64 for 4 liters from RevZilla.
RevZilla is my favorite bike-stuff vendor, but $16 a liter vs $9 a liter for the same spec and weight oil is a bit much for love and friendship. One way or the other, I won't pay THAT again ....

Here's the link to the oil I ordered from Amazon...

So here's a question. That stuff is for cars....they have other spec of the same oil that is JASO MA2 certified. I know we have dry clutches but I used Motorex and AGIP ENI before. What would be the advantage of using the non MA2 version? The added friction modifiers?
Thanks

10w-60 is becoming a bit more popular as it’s also the spec . Oil for BMW M-series . Lets be thankful our oil pans ain’t that big !

. . . I don't think there is a lot to choose from in a 10W-60 fully synthetic . . .
I disagree, unless it's very different in the States?
Plenty of choice on this side of the Pond.
We have the choice of;
Penrite 10-Tenths
Castrol 'Edge'
Mobil 1
Petronas Selenias
Liqui-Moly
Putoline N-Tech ProR+
Millers CFS
Fuchs Titan
Valvoline VR1
Gulf Competition
Gulf Racing
Shell Helix Ultra
Red Line High Performance
Motul 8100X & 7100
Elf HTX 860
Total Quartz
Plus a few other lesser known brands, all in 10W-60
Also, unless you're constantly running in sub-zero temps, I wouldn't worry about using a 15W or 20W-60 Oil instead, so that gives even more options.
Remember also, we don't need a Bike-Specific Oil in our Dry-Clutch Bikes, so you're not limited to 'Bike' Oils.

Been running it for years. Just freshed up the Quota after install of an "Outsider."

For folks that may be used to only using the oil they find at their local NAPA or AutoZone chain, it will certainly look like 10W60 is rare, as many of the chains sell NO brand of 10W60, and the ones that do sell only one or two brands.
I keep two or three oil-changes worth of oil in the garage now, so that I never have to run out to the store 3 minutes before closing and grab whatever off-spec oil is available to finish my oil change for the big ride tomorrow, so I just order it, and it's at my door 2 or 3 days later. There ARE a lot of choices out there!

There are 2 variants of LiquiMoly 10W-60
1. GT1 - Readily avalaible at NAPA and several other big auto parts stores.
2. 4T - Have not seen on store shelves, never inquired about ordering or cost.
Looking online it seems as the GT1 is less costly than the 4T. I have no idea what if any differences there are between the 2 oils.

I tried the 10W60 LiquiMoly from AMAZON on my 35 year old California II. I did notice excessive blue smoke on start up after the oil change ... it was actually a thick blue cloud drifting over my farm fields! I thought maybe a broken piston ring, or

loose valve guides. I continued to ride the bike, and 6 months later changed the oil to Motul Oil, and to my great surprise, no more blue smoke on start up!

I often use Castrol 10w-60, available at BMW car dealers, because one of their autos from 10+ yrs ago spec'd that oil.
The plus is that it's designed for a dry auto-style clutch, so you get the friction enhancers that are missing from cycle oil (because it makes the wet cycle clutches too slippery).

My local O'Reillys keeps Castrol 10W60 in stock. It is priced at about $14 a quart. A little expensive but readily available.

Perhaps it was colder 6 months later.
Either way, knocking on startup is bad. Smoke no big deal.
