Title: Virginia Rally cancelled
Post by: Antietam Classic Cycle on April 26, 2020, 11:30:14 AM
As seen on their website: https://ronkom.wixsite.com/vamg

After extensive consideration, I have decided to cancel the VA Rally for 2020.  I hope you will come and  gather with us in 2021 the 4th weekend in June.  The safety of our attendees was only one of many things that went into my decision.  Please consider visiting Willville this year once Will is able to open.  If the current restrictions due to this pandemic change, some of you may decide to have an impromptu gathering at Willville the 4th weekend in June, but there will be no formal rally. Both Will and the small businesses in Meadows of Dan will need our support once things return to some sort of normal. Anyone who has already registered will be provided a refund or if you wish it will be applied to the 2021 Rally.  Thank you for your support of our rally!

Well, that's a bummer, as they say.

Since I've already blocked out the weekend and will be itching to ride, I'll probably (assuming that Will hasn't barricaded off the campground) just come down and hang out on Friday and on Saturday morning, settle up with Will for any time or facilities I use, and say Hi to whoever's there ....

Dang

Welp, already took the days off work and the wife's already primed for me to be gone, so looks like I'll be riding out anyway.. shame about the shirt, but I'm sure the rally will be back better than ever for 2021.

VA Guzzi Rally is the only one I have made a point to attend yearly, already looking forward to next year.

I was really looking forward to attending again this year, but totally understand the decision.  If the tide of the virus changes course by then, I'll ride up to visit.  Otherwise hope to see you all in 2021...

I stopped by Willville yesterday while out for a ride. He said he hopes to be able to open in 2 weeks. He is loosing several big events this year due to the virus, including the Twin Valley Rally in Sept which was one of his biggest income sources. I plan to do some overnight camping trips as often as I can at Willville, and will plan to be there the weekend that the Guzzi Rally would have been.

Bob & I talked over the decision to cancel at length, I agree & support it 100%. I'll be handling any refunds that need to be sent out, PM or email me "ronkom(at)vaguzzi(dot)com" & let me know.  Land-line (434)993-3841.
I'll just hold the t-shirt design for next year.  The young lady I deal with at the screen-printers has sent inquiries about more color options. We'll see what the world has to offer w/the "New Normal" we're heading into.
I hope I'm able to ride down to Willville for the rally weekend too. but my right knee is REALLY acting up & I'm most likely going in to get a new one installed as soon as it can come together.  The term "BUMMER" was created for situations like having 3 beautiful Guzzis in the garage, nice weather outside & having a knee you can't trust to hold you & the bike upright at a stop...not to mention the deep ache in the thing distracting from the joy of riding.

Exactly, We know the feeling well Ron, hope all is well with the knee sooner than later.  Sorry for the need to cancel, thanks for all you guys do.

Sue and I rode to the 2000 Virginia Rally from Maine and had the time of our lives.  We plan to again... someday.

All the best,
Rob

Let's meet halfway and make it a Convert Rally...

Cheers,

Sounds good, where are you coming from?  I am in Alexandria VA near Mount Vernon/Fort Belvoir.

Heck, come on down anyhow.   It won't be a full Rally, but there'll be a few people there I'm sure ....

And a mighty Convert, properly piloted by a hardcore rider on a mission,  will laugh at the 600 mile round trip!

Rob is coming from Maine, so somewhere in between is... Upstate NY?

Read between the lines.  No organized rally, but "if" you should show up that weekend.  Support Willville.

That's the right move, Bob. So sorry you had to, but the risk of transmission coupled with the risk of catering would be too great. Hope to see ya at some point!
