I was curious if any of you here have any experience with the Triumph 1200 Tiger. I’m still looking for a taller “ more legroom “ replacement for my Breva 1100. I have been waiting for a dealership to open back up so I could test ride a 1200 Caponord to compare to a Stelvio. I think I’d like that bike but I would prefer shaft drive but, I have no intentions of going off-road on. 600 pound bike so I want “mag” wheels instead of spokes. For some reason, I had never really thought about Triumph until recently. I saw a listing for one of the road biased 1200 models and it looked interesting. Since I like Guzzi’s, I’d appreciate hearing Guzzi guy’s take on the Tiger 1200.

I have ridden a couple of them. I wouldn't want to take them off road but they make a pretty nice street bike if you prefer the more upright riding position. They handle, brake, and have tons of power. Most Triumph dealers offer demo ride. Check them out. I have and 800 Tiger because I do do a bit of off road. No problems in 9 years. Just gas, oil, tires.

A fine bike! :bike-037:
It’s brother is the 1200 Trophy and is one of the finest touring bikes I have ever rode and owned.
The problem for me? Both were just too tall and top heavy. Yes I owned both. And I’m 5’10” 31” inseam
A lovely motor that triple is with great MPG!
Great riding position and all the electronics one could hope for including a lovely cruise control.

I had the Trophy SE. Same engine and it was amazing!
I test rode the explorer and found it too roomy for me, so it might be right up your alley.

I owned an 800XC and will never own another Triumph.
Numerous problems. Bad bike, bad dealer, bad manufacturer support.

go test a V85. spokes can be sealed. especially for the 7-8 grand you will save. oh and thn there's the $1000. maintenance costs.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm hoping to get to test ride a few of these options in the near future.
I don't think the V85 is for me. I'm not really into retro...if they had put an updated CARC on it and added some horsepower, then maybe.

Nope, but my 955 has been GREAT! It's only fault was the original stator. Put in a rick's US made unit, presto- no problem!

I had also been looking at 1050 Tigers for a while. If they had a shaft drive, I'd already have one. Guzzi has taught me to like shafts. Uh...that didn't sound right

Yea, the chain did let me down waaaaay out in western Nebraska one time. That sucked. But I don't blame the Triumph.
