I’m starting this thread kinda as a way to remind myself where I’m at and also to have work checked by all you good folks to make sure I’m not screwing up TOO terribly.
Today I borrowed the clutch alignment tool and home made clutch shaft holder from Wayne Orwig, many thanks to that good gentleman! I removed and reinstalled the rear main seal and reinstalled the crankcase vent tube. I think I got the rear main seal properly installed. It has ever so slight a reveal at several area if not totally totally flush. I don’t know if it’ll show up in pics or not. Wayne said to just get the seal flush in order not to block off the oil passageway. That is why I said there is a slight reveal, not even a mm. I figured y’all could look at it and if I need to sink it a hair more that is tons easier than the opposite!

Pics are, in order, rear main seal, crankcase breather tube, camshaft block off plate.
Thanks guys! Robert

You'll be fine. I had one one time that Gomer had decided to "drive her all the way home." I had to *machine* that bad boy out of there..

I do not use impact wrench to reinstall crank and flywheel bolts do I? Looks like someone did in the past, just making sure.

I went with torque wrench for all those, no need for an impact wrench. I was told to always used new flywheel bolts, so I did. I re-used all the bolts around the outside plate for the clutch housing.
Also with my impact wrench, I have no idea what the torque would be. Maybe some nicers ones have a torque setting, not sure. I initially used my impact wrench to tighten the clutch hub bolt (input to transmission). But ... after getting it all back together and riding it ~50 miles it was leaking like crazy again ... so I pulled it apart, again ... and that bolt was finger tight!! So I then used a torque wrench on that bolt as well to get it tight enough.

Okay, I’ve got a brown viton seal, and a blue seal. Am I correct in that the brown one goes on the front of the transmission shaft? And the old seal was shot. Pic is of the end I’m assuming the brown seal installs on.

How did you end up with the blue seal? The one I got from MGCycles was the brown one (for the front of the transmission shaft). Not sure what the deal is with the blue one.

I ordered the 5 speed kit from MG cycle. The brown one is for the input side and the blue is for the output side. The output shaft spins counterclockwise so a regular seal won’t work bc it’s designed for a clockwise rotation. At least that is my understanding so I just want to be sure I’m installing the correct seal on the correct side.
