Up loading one of Beetle's maps with Guzzi Diag is easy enough even a Luddite like me was able to do it. Not to diminish Charlies venture into modernity in any way. :grin: :grin:

My heart rate was bit faster the whole time, right up until I started the engine for the first after the remap.
Up loading one of Beetle's maps with Guzzi Diag is easy enough even a Luddite like me was able to do it. Not to diminish Charlies venture into modernity in any way. :grin: :grin:
I definitely qualify for the "Luddite" label as well.
The bike was picked this morning by it's owner, who is very pleased to have a rideable motorcycle for the first time in quite a while.

I am waiting on my cables to come in before I do a re-map using Guzzidiag and beetle's map. Mines an 18 V7III Special with stock exhaust for now, no mods like SAS or cannister removal. What mods did this bike have? What were the noticeable improvements over the factory map?

No mods, completely stock. Improved idle, improved throttle response, eliminated a mid-range (lean) surge, overall better running across the entire rev range.
Back to the old stuff today. Both my own. Removed the fairing and lowers from the V700, lubed the clutch cable and checked things over in anticipation of riding tomorrow.

Next up, the Sears Allstate/Puch 250 I resurrected from parts. The threads in one sparkplug hole were stripped, I'd been running it with a 3/4" reach plug to catch a few good threads. Removed the cylinder head and installed an insert.

It's somewhat comforting to read that even a master wrench like yourself is also bit unnerved by the whole ecu/map thing.
Glad you were able to get your friend's bike running well.

Mostly, I was concerned that my "obsolete", very slow laptop was up to the task. Turns out it did fine, but one never knows.

Jealous! Ive tried on three different laptops, never could get it to work, I guess I just have to live with my Breva pinging and never twist the throttle in anger on hot days

So far I have been afraid to try it. Not the Guzzi but Microsoft. I use a couple of Android tablets but have an older laptop stuck away somewhere.

The laptop in your shop is a good thing - watch getting grease all over the keys. So next you need a projector to blowup the loop wiring diagrams on your shop wall....

Now I'm thinking maybe ... Could the V-7 get as good of MPG as the V-9 if I remap it ? I have got as much a 68mpg from the Roamer but have never got over 56mpg on the V-7II ?
Real gas not the 90% stuff.

It’s such a relief when a bike, especially a customer bike, acts right when a new to me procedure is done to it. My brain concocts all kinds of scenarios until it starts and runs fine.

On a serious note, does guzzi diag work with Apple OS? Or does it have have to windows? I have some nice Apple laptops and one old creaky windows laptop.
