Have you convinced someone else to switch to Guzzi? I haven’t, but I try.

Several of my friends have bought a Guzzi or several. I have never tried to convince them to do so.

Well, I don't think "convincing" is the operative verb, but cousin Mal just picked up a new bike to replace his aging TDM - he fancied a shaft drive, and has ridden my V7 Special some 15,000 miles around Australia, and found a heavily discounted V7 III Stone with Night Pack demo bike with 91 miles on it. This is a man with no brand sensitivity - if it does what he wants it to, in reasonable comfort, he's not particular. It's not what you'd call a triumph of persuasion. He WILL enjoy it. Or else.

RHAT was just the latest , he loves his Norge . It's weird , because of having some experience working on Guzzis going back to about 1980 I steered people to them way before actually ever owning one .

In 2007 my longtime friend had a Kawasaki W650 he was very happy with. The Griso was new and dealers were giving test rides so I was going to ride down for a visit and hit up his local dealer. Rain spoiled my plans but my buddy got a 45-minute test ride due to all the cancellations...

My old boss got a Guzzi on my recommendation. A new SP3 that he bought from Judson Cycle. A white one that he had a few years and took some long trips on, he sold to someone from this list that did a fly&ride . Minnesota to New Mexico or Arizona. Ron from Judson’s said “ a convert, huh?” I was confused, thinking he was talking about a Convert but I caught on and mumbled something

Yes two but neither stuck to it instead selling then going to Harley-Davidson.

No, but quite a few years ago I was quite impressed by seeing a Road King in the parking lot at work on sub-20°F mornings when I was riding my K75RT (with of course heated clothing, so I was comfortable; didn't see how he could be). Finally met the guy and liked him a lot. He wound up buying a BMW (still rides both BMW and Harley) and I wound up buying a Road King (still of course have BMWs). It wasn't really necessary to say a word to the other to do any convincing. I think we both liked what the other was doing.

Yup , a friend was bemoaning the height & weight of his R1200gsa Sooo I recommend checking out the soon to be released 850tt . Last I heard he’s a happy man , though he ain’t home much .

In 1998, after riding my '83 SP my brother-in-law sold his '84 R100RS and bought a new hotdog 'n' mustard EV.

The camaraderie, humour and knowledge displayed here on this site convinced me that it was ok to take the plunge and buy a partially disassembled '83 SP1000. I never seriously considered buying any Moto Guzzi until I tripped over this place. A big :thumb: to all of you.

I'd never seen my buddies jealous until I showed up with the Norge. They have been searching ads ever since :wink:

I first saw a Norge at my first NAR last fall. Where have these been all my life? Beautiful bikes.

Ah the Norge. Only bike I have ridden that at a motel parking lot caused an attractive middle age women to almost run over to me in front of her husband and gush all over the Norge so to speak. You meet the goodest craziest people when riding a Guzzi. :thumb:

My area is so thick with Harley riders that one Guzzi is but a drop in the bucket. I do catch them looking when they think their buddys cant see them though.. :)

It was years ago, but on the strength of my experience and my recommendation, by brother-in-law replaced his Kawasaki with a Griso.

Y’all all had a had in convincing me to buy my Quota! Online community support is important and tbh I’m sick of dealing with stupid Cruiser riders who think “loud pipes save lives” (only if you point them forwards!) and “how wide a back tire can I fit” and “how y’all ape hangers can I fit” are the be all and end all of bike ownership! I am truly sick of these type of riders! To the point I’m thinking of selling my Victory just so I’m not lumped into the pot with them!

I try to be a "brand ambassador" when the opportunity presents. With my former 1400 and present TT, most people are very impressed with the look and quality. About 1/2 of the people I run into have not heard of MG. Most folks who have been riding at least 10 years reply that they have not seen one in a long time, some say they always wanted one, but it just never happened, most ask where the local dealer is (Cadre). Most are concerned about the dealer back up. I just had a talk with a long riding Gold Winger who commented that there are states without MG dealers which can't be denied and is often the reason I hear people say they stick with the Japanese brands and HD. We are all brothers of the road, so I don't take offense, but I believe that we will always be a boutique brand in this country.

Yes, they switched, but I never encouraged them to do so. Shortly after I bought my bike in March of 2013, two of my riding brothers bought the exact same bike only in different colors. I kind of liked having the 'unique' bike, while it lasted anyway. They both also loved their decision as they also loved the bike.

Yes, AND they switched after riding my bike. It's what I did at all the BMW/Guzzi dealerships. I'd say "Do you want a 1/2 of Volkswagen or a 1/4 of a V8?".

At one time there were 7 Guzzies in my back alley, four in my garage two in the one neighbors and one in another, since then we have all moved, I still have my four, I can't say about the others. My brother owned a few Guzzi but is now piloting a Harley side car rig. I'm now in North central Arkansas, I think most folks around here know about Guzzi but few have seen them in recent years. Oh yeah My coworker bought a Guzzi. we rode a few Iron Butt runs with them. SS1000, BBG, and Border to Border.

Almost. One of my Vespa pals was looking for a new motorcycle, the V7 III was on his short list so I handed him Anni's keys and told him to have some fun. He ended up going with one of Triumph's modern classics as he wasn't pleased with the lack of dealer availability.

I think that’s an issuer for a lot of folks that would like to own a guzzi. If it wasn’t for some of the folks On this forum I probably wouldn’t be looking for a replacement for the 1400 now.
