Title: Benelli 2 stroke ?
Post by: steven c on June 15, 2020, 07:42:45 AM
I’m still trying to get the 250c running. It will start but only run for a minute or so then power falls off, I have spark good compression and clean carbs. But why do I have this black oily stuff coming out of the exhaust pipe? Is it just old oil build up that was in the header coming lose from the engine being warm and gas flowing through? Oh and if anyone has a front wheel and left side drivers peg and mount I could use both. Thanks.

Are the engine seals OK between the transmission case and combustion area?

I was told they where replaced with NOS seals which could be sketchy .I'm thinking of making a pressure tester.

Have you tried "de-coking" the exhaust system? You can do it chemically with solvent and remove all the carbon and gunk that blocks the free flow. Its one of the periodic things to do on any 2-stroke motor.

I thought this could be a fun way to do it. May have to pull a fire permit first though.

That's how I used to clean the pipes on the son's Suzuki Stinger.

If you can get the baffles out it gives a far better job.  That is where they block up.

Back in the nineties I bought my girlfriend a 2c to learn to ride on. She never touched it but did take it when we broke up. Anyway I have a manual and part of a parts list for them if you want it. No other parts though. Send me your address and I will pass it on.

Is it the owners manual? I do have a parts book and shop manual.
