Title: Stelvio leaky battery
Post by: Bisbee on June 19, 2020, 03:25:54 PM
So, 7 months after leaving Arizona I was finally able to return to the bikes. Left the Stelvio on an Optima trickle charger. It fired up fine but I noticed a dark area on the floor. Rats! I figured an oil leak but everything was dry. Put my finger on it and it was acid. I cleaned every area it dripped on and seems fine. The tray vent tube was broken off and the tray had cracked from the acid. The dealer will try to warranty the battery and tray but Guzzi will probably deny and say it was the charger. Bought a new battery and ordered another tray. Lesson learned. Next time I’ll Just disconnect the battery and let it sleep.

Sorry that happened. I never leave batteries on any type of charger, they will always break your heart! The disconnect is the way to go.

Get a real AGM battery (as in, NOT a Yuasa).
