I'm trying to figure a fair value for this T3 fb. 15 k Mi., been sitting for a few years but in dry indoor storage. Shocks are pooched as are the front forks. Exhaust is shot but too. Some battery acid damage to frame, swingarm etc. Most of the tin, fenders wheels look good and should clean up. The brakes are free and seem fine, with receipt for rebuild. Also carbs were rebuilt but will need cleaning at a minimum. I would intend to refresh and ride rather than restore, at least at this point. Anyone care to chime in with an opinion? Open the flood gates!!

I paid $1200 for a T3 in similar shape with a good title several years ago and would not pay 1/2 that much again. Honeslty if you get it free and do all the work yourself to get it running you might break even value wise comared what you'll spend in parts. If you want to do cosmetis or even worse a N&B resto you'll be upside down beyond your wildest dreams.

I would happily give 2k for that bike if it has a title. And then I would gladly pour wheelbarrows full of $$ into it to bring its back to its former glory. I think T3s are among the most desirable of the early Tontis next to the V7 Sport, and the FB versions are fairly rare.

I recently sold a similar T3 in a little better condition for $1175 and I was happy :)
Title isn't really an issue in MI, bill of sale, an NADA price printout or local shop appraisal and two-three weeks and you'll have it.

Unfortunately, I agree with the above. If it was mine,I'd clean it up, use careful wording and throw it on E-bay with an opening bid of $1,100.00 and see what happens.
It's a shame they don't have much resale value, they are great bikes when finished and running.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned chrome bores? Add that time and cost to the list of tasks to make the bike road worthy.

Irrelevant my good man! :wink: This is a T3 FB we are talking about! I love T3s! Probably a fairly high likelihood it has chrome bores, yes.

I tend to stand with both sides of this debate. Thanks for all the concern, number one, But I'm truly not stressed over this. Just seeking, and receiving thank you all, opinions. Consensus so far ,with the exception of Dave S. and possibly me is that this bike is basically a throw away / money pit. Sure this will require a fair amount of cash but I'm in no hurry, have an intimate knowledge of these old birds, and might be thinking to enjoy it in my senior years then pass along to my son, even share the experience of reviving it with him as his time and interest allows. He knows, respects, and even shares at some level, my passion for these machines.
Now, not to kick the hornets nest for the umpteenth time, But I've put well over 120Kmi. on two different T's with, hold your breath, chrome bores without a moment of concern. I don't ever recall reading anything about this in the MGNOC Newsletter back in the day. No doubt there were failures but at what rate? I totally respect Charlie etal who profess that it's not "if but when", but for a local day rider, at least for now, I'm willing to take the chance. Crazy?
Anyway, I'm thinking I'll start at 1000 and probably pull the plug at 2.
Hope I haven't killed this thread, as I'd love to hear more. Keep the comments coming. Nothing I'd rather bat around.

Vermont - 6% tax on $1,500 (lowest amount) or price paid (whatever is higher) + around $45 in fee's and you'll get a valid VT registration. MIne took 11 days. I then walked into PennDot with my VT registration paid PA sales tax of 6% (on the declaired valve) and walked out with a valid PA title im my name.
Total cost was less than $300. Heck now as long as bikes are 15 years or older I prefer then w/o titles. Its a great becaeu so many poeple don;t knwo how to get a title it strips away a lot of value. So with a little leg work typically buying a bike w/o a title and going through a registration friendly state you can come out ahead.

This thing actually has a NH title and the MSO from the original dealer. So now is it worth even less?? Just kidding Peraz.

Guess this makes me the village idiot. In 2007 I paid $3K for my 30 year old 23K mile derelict '77 T3 that sat for 18 years in a garage. Needed cylinders/pistons, wheel bearings, brake system rebuild and all rubber parts replaced, as well as all the standard maintenance items. I do all my own mechanical work. But MG Cycle threw in two T-Shirts with one part order. Guess I spent enough to qualify.
Passed the 100K mark last month. I still think this is one of the better $3K bikes I've bought.

I've put more in my 850T than it will every be worth. In fact I had everything powder coated and refreshed. It's almost back together. :grin:
My first love was a T-3. It is in no way is that a throw away bike.
It's what I call a Charlie Brown Christmas tree.

Looks like a nice starting point for a refresh. I have yet to have a project I worked on looking at resale value, so I might come from a diferent side of the fence then some. That being said, I assume you do your own work right? If not forget it. Right off the rip you need to add tires, all fluids, tuneup stuff, battery, and lots of time. If chrome cyl look to add a grand to the price. So lets say right off the rip you need to add at least 1-2 grand to the cost. So best case you get it for under 1500.. it has replacement cyl on it, and your on the road for about 3k.. Could be a nice fun project for 3K... worse case... well we know never to go there. :) So I guess do you want a fun bike to work on, and not really going to sweet resale... Or do you want something to flip in a few years. Id pay a grand to 1500 myself.. maybe a tick more if the chrome cyls have been replaced.
