Title: NGC MLB
Post by: giusto on June 23, 2020, 08:40:58 PM
So if there are any baseball fans out there...a decision was just made to hold a 60 game season beginning July 24.

There is something about summer and baseball...mmmm

Yep , still my favorite all American sport . Have been reading the 2,000 edition of the Bill James Baseball Abstract to stay occupied , will probably order the latest printing soon .

Mine too Dusty !

I can’t think of many things I enjoy more than riding except being in my shop working on a bike while listening to a baseball game on the radio.

Last year‘s World Series was pretty amazing… Never ceases to amaze me that guy like Anthony Rendón pops out of the fray and drags his team across the line. I’m a fan of that guy forever.

Just read Bucky F***in Dent ... more about dads than ball but still a great read.

Anyone here think MLB will happen and last through the season?  I can't imagine how they can do this.

Same for NBA or NFL, college ball.  It's beyond my thinking.  You're smarter people than me.

 Frank ,

Baseball has been populated by some real characters and some great gentleman since 1876 . We have always been told that Ty Cobb,
one of the all time great Tigers was a bit of a Richard , but in the 2,000 Abstract Bill James delves into the idea , turns out that there isn't really much evidence to support the notion . He was mostly just a fierce competitor on the field , and maybe a bit socially awkward , but not a bad guy . I love turning stuff like that up .

Probably none will finish out this year , but they needed a plan .

I wonder how this will affect the minor leagues. I wanna go to a Rocket City Trash Pandas game.

I'm not a huge baseball fan, but I am a casual fan. I have my teams I root for: Cards; Royals; Tigers (they're all tied for first place right now   :cheesy: ). I've been going to one Cardinal game per year, although I missed last year and this year....
Anyway a couple of the guys I go to my annual game with are huge Cardinal fans and big fans of MLB. I mentioned the 60 game season to them the other day and both of them said they had no interest in a 60 game season. I was surprised. I guess if you're that big of a fan, its a whole season or nothing. I thought they'd be glad to be getting some baseball, but...

Mo-  I lived in St Louis for several years and everyone there is a baseball fan.  It's Baseball City USA. They  know more stats than I know the meaning of those stats.  Next down the list is music and the blues.

I believe Mike Tyson has an interesting quote about a plan!  LOL

60 games sounds like something more than nothing...I'm in.
