I just found this on Craigslist in Sacramento. The owner is asking $5,300 for the bike, 2015 V7 Stone. The bike has some damage due to knock over by a car. It has been listed for a month. NADA Guide lists average retail at $4,300. What do you guys think this bike is actually worth. Is $4,000 out of line? Would I be insulting the owner?

There's a 2016 V7 II Stone in the MGNOC classifieds for $4k, doesn't appear to have any damage. If nothing else, you could use that ad for bargaining.

That's his problem commuter bike at a ridiculous price. There are much better V7s available at a lower price.

Moparnut, that's a first-series V7, a five-speed. I own one, and I paid less than five grand for mine a year ago in absolutely pristine condition with hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of really worthwhile upgrades: the deep oil sump, c-mounts and beautiful saddlebags and a top box, centerstand, Ikon shocks, two seats, Aprilia mirrors, the list goes on.... Even four grand is too much money for a bike that has no upgrades and that will cost YOU money to make it look new. You can find super nice ones. Keep looking...

As others are saying, pass on this one and find another.
I've learned it isn't worth the time to talk a really high priced bike down to where it should be.
And that damage, looks way worse than it just got knock over while parked. And the coating/finish on the wheel seems kind of strange, like the finish was messed up for corrosive cleaner or something.
So, pass pass pass :grin:

I saw the one at Eurocycle, good deal but they add so many additional fees that their bikes are no bargins. I wondered what was up with that wheel also. I am in no rush I will keep looking. Thanks gang.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest you expand your range to include a V9. For some reason there are bargains cheaper than the V7s.

So may dealers around where you can have a fly and ride.
If it's a long ride home ask the dealer to break it in for you and do first service. You'll have a blast and a great story, too.

Regarding break in: I asked my dealer if he was willing to do that. He said he simply did not have that much time. I don't know about the previous models, but Guzzi says 1500 miles for a new V7. (At the risk of starting a break in debate...) Lets not.

I see. I had Hamlin break mine in-it was 600 miles. The guys at the shop, who I know well and trust 100%, spent the required time on a few weekend rides to do that service for me.
When I got my Norge, I rode it home with zero miles and serviced it myself the first time.

What I found during my Moto Guzzi shopping in California, all of the new $6995 listed bikes turned into $9000 Out The Door bikes. About $1000 is stuff like shipping, setup, doc fees, etc. and about $1000 in DMV registration and taxes. And stupid Eurocycle added another $1K on their's so a $7K listed bike was $10K OTD! Crazy!
Also, the dealer in Windsor, CA, they are associated with Eurocycle, but if you start with them directly (vs. a craigslist ad) the prices seem a lot better. Same for Eurocycles in Reno, NV. I think the craigslist ads are some broker dude that adds on about $1000 ... vs. going direct to the actual dealer and eliminating that guy. (Guessing/speculating here, but when I called those two dealers directly the sales guys were actually OK vs. the person you speak with via the craigslist ad)
Oh, one more item, the Reno guys were going to bring the bike to me (5 hours away) for free! Home delivery. But my local dealer (Spirit in San Jose) matched the price so I got it locally.

I bought my Audace from the Windsor store, they treated me pretty well. The Audace had been in inventory for years and I was trading in a Harley which they would be able to sell fairly easily. So I was kind of in the drivers seat. I tried to buy a used Burgman from the Reno store for my wife. We agreed on $1,200 for it but by the time for final numbers it was $2,400 and that didn't include Cali registration fees. Didn't do it. I think I mght shoot this guy a real lowball with reasons why. Won't hurt, he might be getting desperate or he just may wanting to get rid of it. I don't really need a another bike just keeping my eye out for a good deal. I like my Audace but won't be able to ride it too many more years. I rebuilt a Yamaha 125 to run around town with but I don't feel safe on it. Nothing wrong with this old bike but it can't keep up with today's traffic. Also attempting mosquito abatement isn't too socially acceptable these days. In retrospect I should have kept either my R90/6 or my XL883C. Both decent bikes.

I'm shopping V7's a little too, thinking about trading my MT-07 or maybe just buying straight out, depending. Anyway, just as the others have said I'd suggest a low, low offer on any bike with damage. I'm seeing nice used V7III's in mid-5's on FB Marketplace.
By the way, I think you'll love the V7. My Nevada reminds me very much of the 883 I owned, except much lighter and more nimble and easier to handle all the way around.

I'm very pleased with the new V7 I picked up a Cadre'. A lot of bang for the buck.

There are a lot of V7's out there... I would not even think to look at one for real money that was damaged. As has been said, your in the range of leftover new... A bike can have so much hidden damange. Not like a car where you replace a door, or a fender. Tweeked frame, forks, or swingarms can get pricy.. Just way too much money for that one.

I also even liked the 2001-2002 Stone. The quintessential, all around, practical and fun Guzzi!!
