Title: Convert appreciation days
Post by: nick949 on July 05, 2020, 01:01:11 PM
New u-Joint, new clutch. Still leaking a smidgen of ATF from the drain hole, but what's a few drips of lubricant between friends.

On a twisty road today, I was reminded why I like it so much. As I've said elsewhere: like pouring silk down the road. Wonderful. :thumb:

I should finish the Eldovert this summer.  Maybe the Canadian border will be open by then, and you can host the first annual International Convert Meet.  I’d be there.  You wouldn’t need a large place ...

Nick: Looking at the right side photo of your Convert I noticed what looks like a vent hose.  Can you comment on your experience (and the need for) the vent hose on the rear drive box filler plug?

Things get swapped around on my bikes. I think this was on the Eldo when I got it. Why and when it ended up on the Convert, I have no recollection....... ......Oh yes I do. I had a bad seal in the Convert's drivebox and I thought if I added the vent, it wouldn't puke gear oil so much.  I was wrong - it still puked, and I ended up having to replace the seal.  I just never switched the vent plug back to the Eldo (where I suspect it was doing nothing at all).

Haha.......you have no idea how anti-social I really am   .
Good luck with the Eldovert though - what an interesting project.

Stay well,

I went for a ride on my Convert this morning. This was the first real ride on it after putting on a set of Shinko's. I them bought largely due to Charlie M's recommendation. Glad I listened to that advice as handling was fine and I saved a bunch of dollars.

I've been in a crappy mood for a dozen reasons I don't want to discuss here or the thread will get pulled: the ride was therapeutic. Motorcycles do that.

It is good to see that you are still enjoying your Convert, riding those beautiful Rideau Lakes roads.  :thumb:

Rode my 'Vert 240+ miles yesterday, despite the 95*F heat. Found a few shaded roads to ride and cool spots to take a break at.

I rode mine to work this AM,I like the looks of the Loop frame bikes better than the Tonti framed ones, so I built this Ambo-Vert from junk, performs well.  DonG

Just turned a thousand miles on my convert this morning. Really loving this bike. I just added some highway bars for those longer trips and alternate feet positions. Wi

About 300 miles today, trying to follow the Frontenac Colonization Road in Eastern Ontario.  about 25% unpaved, 75% paved. Long day!
