I saw a Facebook post, allegedly from Italy, that said the factory in Lake Como that makes the heads and cylinders for the 1400 California's also makes the heads and cylinders for the Indian's. Wonder if that's true.

I could see the Gilardoni Xray manufacturing plant from my (3rd floor) bedroom in Mandello, it is a few hundred meters down from Agostini's after the Agip on the lake side of the old hwy. They have several facilities in the area and make top ends for all kinds of brands, my lastest Lambretta cylinder kit is a Gilardoni product.

Gilardoni also makes cylinders for BMW and LaFranconi (also in Mandello, adjacent to Guzzi) makes some BMW exhausts, as well as those for Guzzis. Mandello has maintained quite a few local component manufacturers, even with far-away Piaggio planners in control for Guzzi.
That AGIP station had a very nicely restored 1970s Italian dirt bike in the window last time I was there. SWM, Beta? I’ve forgotten. Thanks for the memory

Over 95% of guzzi parts were made within 50 kms of mandello up until piaggio took over, not sure of the number now. That agip belonged to my uncle until he retired 10 yrs ago or so. Haven't been in it since.
