Title: 2007 Guzzi Sport 1200?
Post by: aussiebrick on July 13, 2020, 11:04:25 PM
What can you guys tell me about this bike? I haven't owned a Guzzi before. Last bike was a BMW K bike.

Seems to tick the boxs in terms of comfort and power.

Found this one for sale near me.

Personally, can't tell you a lot other than when you string a tarp between them you get a Sports Pavilion

but if you head over to
https://www.grisoghetto.com/ (https://www.grisoghetto.com/)
there's a couple of aussies who have them (Tony & Pat) who will happily discuss their merits.

Tony wrote a review of his (nearly 200,000km) Sport 1200 2V for the MGCoV: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kVs5QFysFAft8meM5eyK_lFCoglTd1-p/view?usp=sharing (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kVs5QFysFAft8meM5eyK_lFCoglTd1-p/view?usp=sharing)

I've had a 2008 since new.  (That should tell you how much I enjoy it!)  I've also had some "K" bikes.  Both the 12S and a "K" bike are great road bikes.  They are pretty big and heavy.  If you like the BMW likely you will like the Guzzi.  The bike you are looking at is missing the fairing and seat cowl.  Both are almost impossible to find.  I've never had a lick of trouble with mine.  But some owners report the dash can leak and fail.  Fixes are available.  In short, if you like a "K" bike I think you'll like the Guzzi.

Travlr- the 07's did not have the headlight cowl, that started with the'08 models.

I bought an 08 a couple years ago and REALLY enjoy riding it.  Did a fly and ride from Knoxville, Tn. down to Clearwater, Fl. when I first bought it.  GREAT BIKES, plenty of power, large fuel tank for extended cruising, comfortable seat, good brakes and easy maintenance schedule.
Basically they are a naked Norge.  I purchased a set of hard bag brackets, for a Norge, and a set of Aprilia Futura hard bags I stumbled across (cheap).  Everything bolts right on and is handy for grocery errands and extended trips.
Reviewing the photos in the ad I see the bike listed already has the hard bag brackets, just find a set of bags and your good to go!
A very under rated bike.

[/quote]My assessment exactly.  Like you, I had owned several 'flying bricks' (RS Series K bikes) prior to the 12S, bought in 2009.  Between 1986 and 1999, four flopped over 4's.  In an old post, I commented that 'if BMW had designed and built a V twin version of the K bike, they couldn't have done any better than copy the 1200 Sport.'  Perfect machine for a nice 500 mile day trip, like this.  A mix of Ohio Tpke, US 23, a bit more Interstate to Michigan's West Coast, then through some beautiful scenery to Northport, Michigan.

The new owner will be taking delivery this Saturday.  Goodbye, old girl ..... we've had a lot of fun together these past 10 years!

Had mine since 2013. Have put 35,000 miles on it. My choice of Guzzis and all other bikes. Fantastic character and can run highways, backroads, city streets, solo or 2-up. Love it! And so   Comfortable to ride. Tons of fun.
