Title: 1998 EV suggestions on replacing rear shocks

I recently pulled my old 98 EV out of a 6 year hibernation .I made some changes to its looks as you can see from the photos (if interested you can see an article I posted in "bike builds and rebuilds" section of this forum)I'm really enjoying riding the old girl again.
   The thing is I used to travel allot pulling a trailer, saddle bags full and then add the weight of my wife so in those days the stock shocks were perfect and did the job smoothing out the rough road surfaces .These days I'm mostly riding by myself with a stripped down EV and the rear shocks are much too harsh,real kidney busters.So I'm looking to replace them but I don't want to spend a fortune,any ideas?

Bang for the buck would be IMO Ikon. Pick the right length and if the spring doesn't suit you, change the spring. I would not consider them racing shocks with a million adjustments, but when set up right give a comfortable ride.

I agree with Tom, though you might be able to source lighter springs for the current shocks.

I got a set of Ikon shocks from MG Cycle for my EV. No regrets.

Thanks guys ,I'll check into those Ikon shocks  from MG cycle ,the problem is how will I know which springs to buy to get the ride I want?

I was at 185 when I had my EV. I went with one step softer springs than the ones the Ikons came with. The original supplied springs were almost as harsh as the stock shocks.

Talk to MG Cycle.
At the time my EV was 'overloaded' and even towing the camper. They had a custom set with a heavier spring made up for me. It helps to have an estimated total weight on the shocks.

Contact Icon in the US. They can be pretty helpful. MG Cycles descriptions are pretty good as well.
