1972 Eldorado Patina Police build. Frame up mechanical restoration with all original patina parts. Rear fender is a true police fender with the original numbers. Drivetrain is being put in as we speak. Should be up and running by Friday.

What gorgeous example a real California Highway Patrol bike, even if it's assembled from unrelated period parts (i'm assuming ),just beautiful...I love those real leather panniers also,I can't believe the condition of those bags,very nice,cool licence plate ,1977 nice touch,and very believable as this bike could have still been in service then.What year did the big Kawasaki police bike nudge out the Guzzi's for highway patrol use in California.
Could you give me the dimensions of one of those bags,height ,length and width.I would like to try and recreate a set of those for my EV/Eldo project.

Thank you! Yes you're correct. The bike has been frankensteined but all parts are true original patina parts. The rear fender is a original CHP with the original number lettering. Its pretty cool in person. From what I read Kawasaki took over in 75/76.
For the bag dimensions I got L-15" W-9" H-10." To save you the headache of making them, Im more than willing to sell these. I have a more true fiberglass set of bags that would fit the mold of the build a bit more. If so, give me a call at shop 562-986-0070.

C.H.P. took Honda 750/4, Guzzi 750, and Harley 1200 in 1969-71.
The three machines were used equally within the fleet of motors as a trial to see which was most cost effective.
They actually all came pretty close to each other in the final accounting.
Kawasaki came in for the 1975 bid and held on, along with a few Suzuki 750/4.

Just finished it on Saturday. Runs like a champ, put 1 mile on it and thats about it. Ill be adding a fake radio box on the back too.

I'm sure it is ... there's never been anything "unfair" about the quality or price of work from Moto Guzzi Classics. Someone's going to enjoy a real classic when you put this on the market .... !!

I had nothing planned for today so I took a ride down to Mark's shop. Figured I might as well see this in person. Rode my freshly cleaned up/ rattle can painted R75/5 down there, he thought it looked good :cool:
Well, patina it is. Lots of old stuff and lots of new stuff. Rebuilt everything. Paint was the patina part. Electric siren, all the police goodies, looked ready for the fleet.
He fired it up and it purred at idle, revved it and it sounded great! Now I'm thinking I REALLY don't need another bike. He had reset the trip meter since the build and it showed like 1.5 miles, s@#% this is a brand new Eldo!
He said you want to take it for a ride, you ride Loops. I'm like naw, don't want to possibly scratch it, you know how the traffic is around here.
I visited for a while and he asked again, this time I said yes. Told him my route so he wouldn't worry and off I went. Well not exactly off I went, stalled it pulling away from the curb. Don't you hate it when you hop on someone else's bike with THEIR clutch setup and stall in front of them :violent1: On my way now, is this really how smooth the trans and engine are supposed to feel???? Wow, I need to get serious on my Eldo. My intended route was going to be mainly large streets, but I took a wrong turn in Albuquerque and ended up on residential. High speed was not in the cards but plenty of shifting, braking and slow speed corners. It felt great! Now if only my pocketbook would allow :drool:

I'm interested in which head pipes are used on this 850-T. I recognize the same basic shape as is seen on the loop frames, but these look to be a larger diameter than those. Also they have the finned clamps rather than the screw type connection on the loops. I prefer the swept shape over the more geometric line of the stock pipes.
