What is eating our red raspberries? Everything else in the garden patch is doing well. You'll see a berry about ready to ripen, and the next day it is missing. (?)

Raspberries thorns will usually deter most furry critters{ except bears} My guess is if there's no tracks on the ground it was probably an air assault. Crows maybe? Had them destroy my whole tomato crop one year. Smashed every tomato but ate nothing, turns out they just needed a drink. A commercial grower told me to just leave a bucket of water out for them and they will leave your tomatoes alone, he was right. Shoot first ask questions later!

Sounds like birds. Our raspberries just finished here in SC. We've got a crowd of rabbits around this year. They don't show any interest in the very ripe low hanging fruit or even the few that were so ripe that they fell off before we got them.
My mother used to net her fancy raspberries in VT when we were kids because the birds were a regular problem. Birds were smart. The wild raspberries down by the brook were little & a waste of time compared to big fat hybrid raspberries in the garden. So far, the birds aren't bothering ours here.

Air Assault. Had to build a shelter over my blueberries out of 2' rebar pieces, 10' PVC sections, and bird screen, otherwise they'd have gotten all of them. They don't want the blackberries, apparently.

If you're garden was in this part of the world, Chuck, I'd say your prime candidates were possums (our marsupial versions), birds (principally parrots, cockatoos or several types, but others can't be ruled out) or lizards. Actually catching them in the act is tricky. It's annoying, but the toll must be paid. The only solution I've found is to plant an excess to requirements, and/or plant other stuff nearby that the culprits prefer. Trial and error I'm afraid.
Had some black passion fruit growing, possums kept harvesting them until I planted yellow passion fruit. They prefer these & left the black ones alone. Papaya I have to pick green, use as a vegetable, if left to ripen, they end up with a big hole in the side. Cherry tomatoes are preferred by parrots - good thing they grow in abundance without care. Birds start on them, new ones will pop up all over. Good luck.

It's ended up being mostly error for me, in many cases.
For example, a single deer grazing along your peppers and beans will just nip the buds off, nothing else, and leave you with nothing. What WOULD have been dozens of peppers and bushels of beans ends up being just an insignificant mouthful for the deer; certainly not necessary for its survival, just a casual snack but one that completely destroys your crop.
You can't plant enough excess to satisfy that sort of vandalism! :undecided: Plan D is called for then ...
