Title: Mpls mechanics
Post by: gfritzmeier on July 23, 2020, 03:30:46 PM
I'm looking for someone around the Twin Cities or south that will work on Guzzi's.  I just don't want to pay dealership prices to get my bike worked on anymore & am potentially needing work on the clutch. Hopefully I don't but would like to know someone to contact for future work if needed. I don't have the ability to do real work. I can do the simple things like changing shock, starter, and etc.
Thanks,
Fritz

If you want a mechanic to be available when you need service you have to be willing to pay them the rate required for them to operate profitably.

Helpful to know which bike/vintage you have.

Some very good techs like to work on carb and points machines, others are more knowledgeable with current fuel injection, computerized machines.

Best Guzzi mechanic in Mpls is probably Marty Mateo, he owns GoMoto mostly a scooter shop (where the money is) and Royal Enfield.. not a Guzzi franchise. Marty goes way back and always treated me right as far as labor charges.. still it is a shop, I don't know his rate.
I did a clutch for a friend once for $500 labor, wouldn't do that again.

Yes I'd be willing and would expect to pay them. Whatever they think is OK for them.

Of course I'd pay. Whatever they charge and at their availability.

I trust Marty to work on my stuff and that is rare for me.

John A has been wrenching on Guzzis for 30 or 40 years so his recommendation is all you need. IMHO
