Looking at a very original 1975 T5 with 35,000 miles showing....Were the chrome bores gone by 1975? And I assume this is a shorter wheelbase bike? A side stand can be fitted?I wasn't gonna buy a Guzzi but this thing just oozes character ....

If it was cheap enough would it be worth factoring in a set of Gilardonis?

I asked the seller and he just said its a 75 850T. Says it runs very nicely, he sounds honest.

All of the Loopframes from '67 to '75, 850-T, 850-T3, V7 Sport/750S/S3 all had chrome bores from the factory. 850 Le Mans and Le Mans II, Convert, G5, 1000SP and CX100 all had iron liners.

They will "run very nicely", all the while the chrome is flaking off. Being a '75 it should have a cartridge filter, so that should catch most of the flakes, but the issue still needs to be dealt with.

You can tell if it has a oil filter by looking at the front of the pan ,
3 round plugs = oil filter,
no plug's no filter

Almost. Early 75 Ts didn't have filters. Late 75s did. Even with the filters flakes make their way to the rocker arm shafts...along with timing chain tensioner bits. AMHIK.

I briefly owned an 850-T built in 12/74 and it had a filter.

I thought the CX100 had the same engine as the SP and used the nikasil liners. But I could be wrong.

So it's chrome applied directly on the aluminum? A set of Gilardonis is about $800? Only available as 950cc? I do know if you have a new set of 83mm rare pistons, the old cylinders can be machined to remove the chrome and then Nikasil plated back to size for about $400.
I was mistaken on the mileage, the speedo shows just under 9000....It's on Ebay, I am high bidder at $ 2850, auction end today....The bike appears to be as original .I do really enjoy working on bikes and can handle any repairs...provided that I do like the machine.....

This bike has the advantage of being an easy 5 hour ride from my place.. I have been looking for a time through the large volume of bikes for sale on Adventure Rider , old Guzzis and BMW's sell quickly and none seem to be within a reasonable distance.

Late CX100s and SPs did have Nikasil ('80 production onward), but earlier ones had iron liners.

That's why I said long ago it can not be a 1975 T5 (No such thing) as the OP stated in his first post because the not a chrome bore T5 was not built then.
In reply #3 was my correction to an 850T.....

I was in for $3150, it sold for 3300......A better one for less money will come up....

1975 Moto Guzzi 850t
15K miles ยท Mazomanie, WI
1975 Moto Guzzi 850T. Previous owner said it had about 15k mileage. Starts and runs but still needs carb work. Has new mufflers (aftermarket) and a new replacement master cylinder from MG cycle. Otherwise looks to be original. I do not have the keys for the tool boxes but they can easily be replaced. Tank has patina in original finish, with some fading and cracking throughout. These bike are getting hard to find. Bike starts and runs and I verified clutch and transmission shifts good but it cannot be rode home at this point due to the carbs. Only selling to keep funding my other Guzzi. Could make a deal with another paint set with tank and tool boxes but they are not perfect either.
$2300 obo Clear title.

That's a good deal.A 800 mile drive one way and I dislike driving that far...Anyone want to deliver it to me for a fair price?
