Title: Donation status
Post by: guzzi4me on August 01, 2020, 12:14:36 PM
Just a reminder folks....

Remember to donate to this great board.

Luap and company does a great job and we need to support.

Besides the WildGuzzi jet and yacht needs fuel!!!!

Ride safe and often........

$1774. I see you haven't donated this year..if you donated $1776, you'd cover it and feel patriotic to boot.

I did the calculation earlier this year.   If everyone would give about $.03 per post each year based on the number of posts they make in a year, the board costs would be covered.

Doesn't sound like too much to ask.   The actual numbers for people who want to do their fair share need to be a little higher to make up for the folks who refuse to donate "on principle" (some kind of perverted, warped principle that I don't understand, but some people have 'em).

It would be good to have an idea of roughly how much each member would need to give where our bills could be easily met. I do give and would be very willing to give more  than I have in the past. Would someone venture out and throw out a number they are thinking?
Let me also add that for me this forum is very important to me as I have some
very meaningful Buddy Pals here and without this forum it would not be feasible for me to own one of these creatures.

Already been done, but a couple of things.

1) Who are the "members"?    Everyone that's ever joined?   Everyone who's ever posted?   People who post significant amounts?

2) Some people say "Screw you.   I'll use this board for free until you MAKE me pay by making it subscription-only, then I'll bail."   You can't count on them.

Rough number - the board needs about $4000 - $5000 a year to run without adverts.   There's about 1000 people who have made significant numbers of posts, so if each of them gave about $5 a year, the board's financial needs would be met.

OR if the 100 people who make 200 posts a year or more would give $50 a year, the needs would be met.  Or any combination of the above.

It's a sad commentary on the state of affairs in cyber-world that Luap has to abase himself to the Advertising Ghouls, and pony up his own money when that doesn't make it, because people who own $10,000 worth of motorcycles won't give $5 for the massive amount of information and entertainment they get here ...

Thanks Lannis for stepping up and foreword with that information and I agree with your Analysis as to who should be responsible  for supporting the forum. It should not be up to Luap or any of the moderators to have to pay as they already do, with their time and effort. Along with the subject, when someone has to be called out by a moderator they should have to throw in an extra 5 bucks into “my bad” jar 🤔😂🤣

It weird, all my past donation badges disappeared, leaving only 2020 showing?  Oh well, I'll have to start over and get a few more under my username!  :boozing:

We know you have been a consistent donor , no worries .

There have been roughly 1200 members post in Luap's thread asking everyone to post , if everyone would send in 4 bucks combined with some of the larger donations made by a few very generous members , the board would be good to go . That said , Luap designed this place in a certain way , and it has largely worked for years .

Oh , the insulated drinking cups that are for sale are really cool (or hot) , not a bad way to donate purchasing one of those  :thumb:

Go to the top of this page, it's on the right hand side under the donation button.

As I'm sure you know well from experience (especially in our business), the rule is

"1000 'Attaboys!' are wiped out by ONE 'Aw Sh!t".

Doesn't work the other way around!

You all rock. Holy smokes, what a great day in donations.

If I could get everyone here to send me $20 per year, I could quit my job and do this full time

Don't forget to hit the little "Down Arrow" in the top far right corner of the screen if you don't see the "Cup" button.  It's easy to hit the "Up Arrow" by mistake and make it all disappear ....

I bought a cup, and I'm thinking about bringing a lawsuit ... I filled it up with coffee one morning (too hot to drink), and didn't get back to it for two or three hours.    The outside of the cup was cold, so I took a sip to see if it was too cold to enjoy, and I burned my tongue on it.   It's like a Yeti but doesn't cost $350 ....

I see that Luap is still about $600 short for what it takes to keep this virtual camp fire running this year.

Wild Guzzi not only allows me to do a cheap imitation of someone that knows how to keep my bikes running sweetly, but I can now also make a fair dumpling and my pizza crust is coming along just fine

I've been inspired by many of the recipes and I'm eating like a king; I have to admit though, that I've shied away from indulging in the hot pepper escapades, because sadly, I no longer possess the asbestos ring piece of my youth, there isn't an Air Hawk made that could sooth the burn of some of those reapers etc

All that to say, if you've been putting it off like I have until now, it might be the time to hit the yellow donate button up on the right.

Thanks to Luap, the mods, the experts and the newbies, you all make this a very special place, I couldn't keep my guzzis running without it.

Ride safe and often take care
