Stone stock airbox installation?
How the heck do they reinstall that thing ? ? ? ? :embarassed: :embarassed:
-
When I do a transmission or clutch job on those, I swear that the airbox takes 1/2 my time.
-
well, airbox is in the shitcan..
i'll run open stacks before I spend any more time on that POS. :boozing: :boozing:
-
You could try warming it with a heat gun to get it a little flexible? They do go in that space, I've done it a few times.
-
Any reccomendations to alternatives?
YUP... I will get pods or go without anything before spending another minute on this POS.
-
Uni pod filters but keep the long runners or suffer slight decrease in torq.

Taking out and reinstalling the air box , to service the injectors, was the most The most frustrating , infuriating part of the job. It does go back together but the pipes must be right or they will leak and suck sand , etc. into the cylinders. Hope I don’t have to do it again.

But that huge airbox helps performance. Hard to beat it.

It is a UNI sock filter with an internal spring to keep it's form. I have been using them for decades. Just cut out the closed end and get an extra hose clamp and you are good to go. Oil it up with the uni oil and slide the spring over the velocity stacks and clamp.
About $14.

looks great, I'm going with that. . where did you find a spring? what size. :thumb:

The spring is included when you buy the filter. It is inside the foam. You need to carefully cut out a circle from the closed end of the sock filter.
I remove the spring temporaraly and put the foam in a plastic bag and oil the foam lightly and squeeze it so the oil is evenly dispersed.
Then put the spring back inside the foam and slide the spring and foam over the velocity stacks and clamp lightly.
