Wondering if hard side bags can be fit to a Bobber Sport.
-
I would presume the HB C-Bow brackets (that except a myriad of bags and are available to attach to other bags) would work for the Bobber. But the distributor doesn't SPECIFICALLY list the Bobber Sport.

Looking at the photos I can't quite tell how it is mounted, just the fender/sub-frame bolts?!? No other support strut?!?

My concern would be the Ohlins.

Looks to me like the gas reservoir MIGHT interfere with the mount itself or where it attaches to the frame. But I'm not 100%. If that is the case, can those shocks be mounted upside down?

I believe you're correct Kev. It appears those brackets are attached with two bolts up top and no additional bracing. I won't go into detail again, but I elaborated a bit on the other V9 thread. If you already own the bike, you're limited. If you're considering buying one, assess your needs for luggage before you buy.
For anybody thinking they need the extra power of a V9 over a V7III, your concerns are unfounded. I'm very impressed with the III, and yes, I have ridden a V9.

There, I fixed it for ya....
I love our V7s.... but I would buy the Bobber Sport and figure out the luggage afterwards in a HEARTBEAT.

Consider what I posted on the other thread. I have personally seen broken mounts over the years. Kind of a pain if you're traveling.
Of course fabrication is always an option.

<sigh> I didn't say a number. Stop putting words in my mouth.
I'm sorry. I didn't realize that when someone asked for opinions and suggestions, mine don't count.

John, don't be that way. Sorry, I don't know why I read two.
I didn't say yours didn't count, I just suggested they were crap. :boozing: :boozing: :boozing: :boozing: (kidding jeeezzzz).
So.... enlighten us. Under what circumstances have you seen HB C-bow brackets break?
(Is this time to tell of the story when I cracked the HB luggage rack holding the topcase on my Jackal?!?).

I have never seen a C-Bow bracket break, nor did I say that. When I had the C-Bows on the 1400, I had 37L leather bags H-B for them. I was concerned about the weight cantilevered out there so I made a piece I could attach a strap to, and use the grab rail to add strength when I had the bags loaded to the gills. I did not use the additional straps for general running around. Again, I refer to shock loads that might create stress cracks that eventually lead to a failure.
The operative term here is shock loads. I have no doubt you understand this.
I really like the C-Bows I put on the V7 but I have the smallest hard bags available for them. They suit my purpose perfectly. Unless I load them with sand or lead, I'm not concerned about overloading the support brackets.

Mea-culpa for misunderstanding. If you notice I did ASK what you meant? You weren't real clear that's why I was asking.
So thanks for the clarification.
Yeah, I get why someone would be concerned about how much weight was put onto the C-bows. That's a good warning.
Thanks.

I put a fender rack on mine with a medium sized tail bag and it works good. I mostly do day trips but I like riding it so much I have thought about how I could carry more stuff for a 2-3 day trip....... Backpack and pack really light. :thumb:
