Isn't NM closed to outsiders?

I'm just trying to envision how you would "close" New Mexico ... ?

For legal questions of this sort, it is best to refer to the official NM sources and not this forum (to do otherwise further risks the spread of inaccurate information). In particular, the official NM website (as of today) has this in their Q/A section:
Q: Are the borders closed in New Mexico?
A: No. The surrounding borders are not closed. State roads remain open.

Roads are open, but the governor issued a self-quarantine executive order. I doubt that it is enforced.

Also, most if not all of the state parks in NM are closed. I heard that at one point the parks were turning away vehicles with TX (and some other states) tags.

Same here in VA, but it's not enforced or enforceable.
If you're just riding on the highways, and meeting people somewhere and shooting the breeze around a campfire, and running up town for dinner, there's nothing getting in the way of doing that. Especially in New Mexico - all that wide open space, big skies ...

What I've read is that you can't get a room or campsite for overnighters or short stays. Got this on an RV board, the option was to commit to 14 day isolation RV site or pass on through the state. Seems like a scam but wanted more info. Making no judgement, just asking the question.
Yeah, I'd like to get the Toy Hauler and Ducati in the Rockies after Labor Day. Was just nosing around.

We wanted to go to one of our favorite B & B places in Santa Fe, NM a few weeks ago, and they told us, because we were from ARIZONA, that we would have to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival....
Well, that put a quick damper on that excursion!

Now really. WHO on God's green earth is going to track your comings and goings and make sure you and 10,000 other people every week stay put in the RV lots and campsites around the state? Do you get an ankle bracelet? Do they stick a James Bond-style magnetic limpet satellite transmitter under your fender?
They HAVE the technology to track anyone's car and give them an automatic ticket if they exceed the speed limit by 3 MPH in any zone anywhere ... they can get that info off your own smart phone. But do they do it .... ?

The quick answer is..."No one..."
But the bottom-line is...without any bars / restaurants open...it's "THE NO-FUN ZONE", so why bother going?!?

Talked to the lady that runs the Largo motel in Quemado, NM last week. The cafe is open and NO restrictions for out of state travelers. I may go there next month. Virtually empty. Great area to ride.

I really missed riding this year along The Plains of St. Augustin, just outside of Datil... :thumb:

The "who" are the hotel and RV park operators.
And what JJ says about things shut down. Remember that NM was hit really hard with this early on.

OK...C'mon now...FESS UP...who rode to Datil this year?!?   :thumb:
