Has anyone used Flex seal on a vehicle? I'm thinking of spraying the front of my sidecar with it. Any comments/observations?
-
Some on the pop-up camper Facebook page my wife watches have used it for repairs (more accurately, what they call repairs) on their leaky campers with very unsatisfactory results. It doesn't endure well and they aren't fixing the same problems with flex seal a second time...
If you're going to go that route, I would expect using a real spray-on bed liner product/service like Rhino liner would be a better path.

Interesting, what kind of sidecar? I have seen bed liner, never thought of the rubber. I wonder if anyone tried that on rims for tubeless.
They say it sticks to anything wet or dry.
-
I mean, if you can use the stuff to make a boat out of old screen doors and used windows... should be fine.

I've used the tape version of flex seal. The clear to repair a 12' pool, patched the liner under water and I was amazed that it just stuck to the liner under water as if there were no water. I haven't used the brush on or spray stuff but I imagine it's good stuff. In your case, I'd probably want the rhino as mentioned above for bed liners for a more shell like feel.

Its crap

Used it on the perimeter of my RV roof vent. Totally delaminated within a year. Its all marketing.

When the seams on the "my pillow" I bought from the tv ad fell apart I repaired them with flex tape. It didn't even hold long enough for one massive romp with my wife 😂😁

Yea but the Jon boat with the screen bottom didn’t leak😂
Go with the spray oN bed liner, can’t cost very much.

I used spray on truck bed liner under the wheel wells of my pop up camper. Looked good and held up well.

I worked on a BMW R1200C with a Steib chair. The body of the sidecar had been sprayed with bedliner. It probably looked okay when fresh, it was chipped in the front and some chunks had fallen off and it looked like crap. The owner was looking for a way to strip it... YMMV.

Rhino Lined the inside and bottom of my Ural sidecar and all 3 fenders. Been about 7 years now and the coating is intact and looking like new. I brought it all prepped to the shop and paid $400 for the service.

I used the spray on my diamond plate truck running boards. Lasted the last two years I owned the truck.

I can't speak of the spray version, but three years ago I rebuilt the cabover section of my motorhome and re-sealed the roof seam and overlap sections first with their tape to cover all my rivets and then coated all that with the brush on stuff. Still looks like the day I put it on and it sits all day in the Arizona sun. Worked for me.

I'm not buying it. I couldn't get that junk to seal a leaky seam on a lousy 80 gallon water tank with at least a half dozen coatings. Following directions. As seen on TV BS

Not a lot of leaking to worry about under the Arizona sun.

Yeah we only get six inches of rain a year but we get in two afternoon's during the monsoon season
