Something to look forward to I hope once the - situation passes - should be as much fun to plan as the actual event!
Seems like there will be two separate events, one in Genoa to honor Parodi (May 2021) and one in Mandello del Lario (Sep 2021).
https://www.roadracingworld.com/news/moto-guzzi-100th-anniversary-statue-in-the-works-for-may-14-16-2021-celebration/
https://www.tlm.nl/en/travels/extended-tours/tlm-trip-092021-cento-anni-tour/ - Look how many riders are signed up from Holland alone to go with TLM!
Wondering how many will make it in total. Time to block the calendar, inquire about freighting the bike over and enjoying a couple of weeks of Italy/Austria/Switzerland riding!
Dream On!
-
Paul, I have had this on my calendar for the past 3 years !!!
Very much want to do this. Even though my only words in Italian are “Moto Guzzi,” “Ducati,” and “Pizza.”
Only issue is -. Can we travel? Do I still have gainful employment?
-
It would be nice to rent a Moto Guzzi
-
My accomodation is booked and discussed shipping the Norge with my agent yesterday.
Only thing stopping the whole lot is -.

Isn't it a little surprising that there hasn't been any word yet about some special "100th Anniversary" models, or editions? Hmmn…

That’s what I am hoping for. Specifically, a roadster version of the V85.
-
I wish Guzzi had a European Delivery Program where I could pick up the new '22 LeMans 1400 at the 100 Year Rally with accommodations and ride tour.
I don't think a V9 Anniversary Edition would cut it though.

They will probably appear in 2022 or 2023...
-
Wanna bet Agostini's has all their rentals booked at a premium too.
-
They could probably sell 500 motorcycles if they would just get it together.

 A 100 yr anny model......... Mmmmm

I would think that Piaggio/Moto Guzzi North America could have a special celebration here in the states. Triumph had a "Triumph Across America" in 2002 for their 100th. I took advantage of that celebration and my restored 1965 Triumph Trophy took the best in show here in Ohio. It was a great time. Harley Davidson had the big celebration for 100 years in 2003. I worked at the local dealer and we had a good time too ! Piaggio NA, are you listening or is it too much to ask for all us loyal Moto Guzzi owners here in the USA.......??? The Kid
-
The special celebration here will end up being the 2021 Annual MGNOC Rally, which is being held in Keene, New Hampshire.

I wish Guzzi had a European Delivery Program...
Wouldn't this be great! You could do a 600 mile or 1000 mile warm up lap, come get the first service done and then rip around Europe for 2-3 weeks...would be a blast!
-
I went to Mandello for the World Guzzi Days in 2006, hope next year will be possible to attend...

A lost business opportunity for sure. But it needs to be a special motorcycle(s) not a repaint for the same models. Like a 1400 Tourer like an RT and new big block LeMans Sport (tourer). I'd bet they'd sell 50 from the states and another 100 on the continent. And then they would have a new follow on line of bikes to sell worldwide.
And of course they could do some Anniversary V7 and V85.

Definitely, and what a place to go and pick it up...Mandello and surrounding areas are lovely!!
I remember the excitement when my Dad bought a 1973 Volvo from the factory, had it shipped to the East Coast and then driven to California where we lived at the time, it was a nice surprise.
We also picked up a Mercedes 207D (Diesel) bus in 1978 when we moved to Europe for a bit, had that shipped back to California for a few years and I've always thought it would be fun to do a Porsche as well, especially with their new museum.
-
Booked my accommodation last week.
Like SmithSwede, I've been thinking about this for a few years. :thumb:
-
I have also booked hotel, going to take the train with the guzzi from Hamburg to Switserland. :thumb:

A Porsche or Volvo would be out of my cost range but Euro Delivery for a new LeMans and vacation would be pretty cool.

If we only had train service from Oklahoma City.

Why the train ?

A 1400 Special Edition,.....well ,word has it they might discontinue the 1400 Cali in Europe , with the Tier 5 in Place ,they might work /or are woring on Models with a 1200 CC Motor.
I sure hope "They " get - in check ,cause Travel there and back [than 14 days Isolation] thats a to long Vacation .
But thinking of going there end of Juli. Will see.
Same for a "Party " over here,....... sadly - Rules.
Its flaring up again in places [Germany etc] anf Lookdown might be considered again. Just sayin.
-
Why the train ?
I'll take a wild stab int he dark, faster cheaper and drops him and the bike off where the roads get intresting.
-
. . . faster cheaper and drops him and the bike off where the roads get interesting, and where the police don't have a sense of humour when it comes to 'spirited' riding on empty roads.
I doubt the train will be cheaper than riding there though.

Take the train one way, ride back. :thumb:
-
Why the train ?
Because it is superboring to ride the Autostrada. 👍🏻
-
Why the train ?
Pretty simple Pete if your on the regonale' , the station is across the street from the Guzzi factory, in fact it is the only thing one sees as you open the door of the carriage .
-
If you ship your bike into London, the ride across from Calais is nice.
-
anyone know if there will be organized tours?
hope to have my - b4 then.

Welcome to WILDguzzi!
I'm still waiting to see if their are going to be new bikes, or at least bold new anniversary colors.
What do you currently ride?
-
I've a 98 Centauro Sport, a Bassa, and an 01 V11SPORT. and a 2013 v7 Special I keep in Florida.

As I've said before, this would be a great opportunity for Guzzi to offer a factory delivery program for new motorcycles. Visit the factory, pick up your new bike, enjoy the rally, ride through Europe, ship the bike home.
Of course, I'd like to see a big block sport touring rig. None of the bikes they sell now.

I've never ridden a big block Moto Guzzi. I guess I need to one day and see what all the fuss is about. I almost test rode a used Stelvio at a dealership, but they had to pull it from the floor for electrical issues so I rode two KTMs and the Honda Africa Twin.
-
A buy, ride, then ship program would likely be a legal, and a practical nightmare. I'd imagine you'd have to actually buy the bike from your dealer here in the US. Or whatever country you live in. Get it registered, licensed and insured in Italy, ride it, then return it to the factory to be crated and shipped to your home country and dealer.
If this were feasible, I'd guess companies like BMW, Ferrari, Maserati, Ducati, Moto Guzzi etc. may already offer it. Since they don't, it speaks volumes to the complexity of the situation. What you may be able to do is rent the bike (or a car) like the one you want in Europe, enjoy it then simply return it before you travel back home. Of course the same legalities of needing an International license, local insurance and the cost of the rental still come into play.
Though most things are possible if you have enough time, effort and money to invest in your desire.

Set your GPS to avoid them.

Volvo, Porsche, Mercedes have all offered these programs for many years. One of them may have recently cancelled it due to -, but they are not administratively burdensome, and quite user friendly with lots of drop off points. As far as I recall, at least 40 years or longer.
My dad bought a Volvo in 1973 from the factory in Goteborg, and MB 207D bus in 1978, both of which were driven around Europe for a while and then shipped home to the states.
Maybe motorcycles would be even easier than cars...I would think.
-
Indeed, Mercedes program for such sounds great!

Has there been any additional news about the centennial celebrations in Mandello or anything in the USA?
Obviously things are in flux as infection rates rise while vaccines roll out around the world at different rates, etc. Just wondering if there have been any announcements or even credible rumors.
And regarding everyone's wish (that I share) for stunning new centennial models: If they existed, the geniuses in Mandello would have advertised them starting in 2019 thus ruining sales of 2019 and 2020 models, and the third round of production delays would be announced next week, pushing delivery estimates back until after the riding season of 2021 ends. In the end, some models would arrive to
dealerships during blizzards in February 2022, while the one model that created the most buzz would never be produced.
-
I'm good with whatever the "geniuses" decide to do... so far so good for a hundred years, seems like they're doing a pretty good job.

Please, share the details on how it works with a Moto Guzzi.

Randy has the National Rally in New Hampshire 100th Annersario.
-
I'm surprised someone's not planning a anniversary celebration on this side of the pond, it would be more realistic with the current conditions. However it would probably be held on either the east or west coast, two places I probably wouldn't go to anyway. I guess I'll haul a 12 pack down to Arkansas and have my usual celebration
-
If anything the MGNOC National Rally in NH will be the stateside 100th celebration. Randy said that he's planning for 500 participation BUT will look at the pre-registers to make a final decision.
The MGNOC National Rallies historically have been the U.S. largest gathering of North American Moto Guzzi owners in one place.
The 100th celebration in Mandello del Lario at the old factory should be large. Any one that went to the 75th, 80th, 90th or 95th can comment.

Good on Randy for the work and dedication. I know there are more riders on the east coast. But I've been to the east coast and I'd rather wear cat food underwear in a phone booth full of bobcats than ride a motorcycle to the east coast from the central US.
-
If I'm (grammar correction) able to ride. It'll be from up through AR, TN, KY then the North route going west into NH. Going up along the East Coast sucks. Loads of good roads on the west side or east side of the Appalachias. Just avoid the I95 corridor & the eastern part of the Atlantic seaboard.

But Tom you'll miss I-80 through Northern Illinois and Indiana
-
Been down I90 & I80 enough that I don't need a map or gps of which I don't have or use  I might have a short chain because of the kid graduating from NV, Reno. Mauri is already telling me that I should go to NH. She knows I'm getting Island Fever.

Holders for your face mask and hand sanitizer as standard equipment.

We'd need an advanced version with an O2 tank and cannula with a built in breathing treatment compressor. :bike-037:

Lots of amazing rides as soon as you get about 100 miles north of the city also! Whole different world up here when you avoid the city area! When ever I head south I always start by heading west into Pa first..

I took a great road trip from OKC to NYC by way of Maine. Fantastic. Great roads, great scenery.
Stopped in St Louis and had Italian on the Hill. Then Columbus at the AMA museum and a great night in Cleveland and R&R Hall of Fame. Then a resort on Lake Erie and tour of covered bridges. Then to Niagara Falls and original Buffalo wings. Then on to Lake George. A tour around Lake Champlain and overnight in Burlington (I should've taken time for Montreal, dang it). Then a road trip to Maine through fall foliage. A weekend in Ogunquit ME. Then upstate NY and a visit to FDR's place at Hyde Park (driving past Woodstock and Levon Helm Dr). Then parked the car in New Jersey via Palisades and took a ferry to Manhattan where we spent a week. Then trip back through Roanoke Virginia and couple of nights in Nashville. Then back home.
Even the interstate hwy travel was good. Tons of great roads and beautiful America. It's hard to screw up a trip to the NE unless you have no time and have to rush and hooof it; if so, then why do it?
