Title: V50ii Progress / Caliper Question
Post by: Scout63 on August 22, 2020, 10:13:47 PM
The V50ii refresh is coming along.  New Avons installed, new Goodridge Sniper brake lines and fittings, New Brembo brake pistons, seal kits and  pads, battery box area painted, carbs vapor honed and partway rebuilt.  Exhaust system is a nice Bub setup.  I can’t wait to hear it and ride my first Guzzi.

It looks if the PO reversed the font brake caliper mounting to the front of the fork legs. This reverses the axle / spacer orientation.  Also the spacers were a hodgepodge of non-stock parts so I have ordered factory spacers. Is reversing the calipers common mod?   I’m thinking of switching it back. I’m interested in thoughts on this. I’m planning on swapping the fork legs and rear mounting the calipers on my G5 custom project, but the 500 I think will look great stock.

As soon as the bike is done and sorted I’m going to take it and my Commando to Vermont for three or four days of solo back road head clearing.

Best to all.

The calipers were forward of the forks on the V50 and V50 II. The axle should go in from the right side, nut on the left.
