Now this Jackal has stopped Charging the battery. I'm not having much luck finding information in these newer than the T/T3 systems. So any REAL SIMPLE step by step diagnostic help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys, some day I will have this thing road worthy again and I will owe you all a beer.

That uses the Ducati system.
It has two yellow wires coming from the alternator. The bullet connectors going to the rectifier/regulator often corrode and overheat. Make sure those are clean and tight.
The rectifier/regulator is not the most reliable bit on the planet. Often a diode goes out, and you get a weak charge, or they completely fail. Aftermarket replacements are often more reliable.
And of course the charge output passed through a fuse. Likely a 30 amp, which you want to verify is good.
I found this fault finder. But there used to be a simpler one that just applied to that system.

thank you so much.

Wayne, thanks for that hit list of things to check.
My Jackal has started being a bit weak after sitting for a couple of weeks (11.8) and won't kick over. I wonder if that corrosion you mention could be the culprit.
I know, I know....the real culprit is letting the bike sit. This summer at work has been unlike any for quite some time .....

Wayne, I have seen mention of the 30 amp fuse but have no idea where it is located. My diagram shows (all fuses 15 amp)

so if I unplug the two yellow wires and try for an electric value across or to ground what might I hope to find?

50 volts AC at around 4000rpm across the two. I don't think the jackal has the 30amp fuse that came latter if I recall correctly.

Thanks we will start with that.

Correct.

We are out of town for a couple weeks. Will let you know what we find when we return.

Yes, I recall that they didn't all get fused did they.

It should be floating, as in open circuit to ground. A somewhat high AC voltage when unplugged at high revs, as Murray noted.
