will Canada let you across if you are heading directly to AK?

Tom, I think Canada has her border locked , period . Try contacting the RCMP .

I heard about an American who got permission but overstayed his visa in Canada and got a huge fine.

I had an Alaska trip planned for July. The GOV made it hard to get into the state because some 'rona Japanese kids came to work in the canneries and THEN our resort-fishing guide guy closed up and moved to Phoenix with our sheckles. So, now I have credit with the guide/lodging guy AND a $900.00 plane ticket voucher and no where to go.
But, I'm thankful I'm "essential" and still working and healthy! :thumb:

No.

Yes, there is a loophole to cross the border, in order for Americans to travel to Alaska. However, there are strict travel guidelines.

Travel has been screwed up by people saying they are going directly to Alaska and ending up in Banff
Try contacting Canadian Border Services at the crossing you would use.

Thanks a lot for the info ,our daughter is getting married but that doesn’t seem to qualify as family funerals don’t.We are scared to fly .

Dont know where you're located, but On alternate weeks from March thru September, the ferry from Bellingham Washington travels to Whittier through Juneau.
From Whittier to Anchorage is a drive of approximately 62 miles.

I think that work related travel (many cross both borders for work daily) and people returning to their home country are permitted without issue or restriction. Leisure or vacation travel may be limited.
I have flown 3X since this thing kicked off, and other than 50% teleworking, wearing a mask or occasionally wearing gloves and not sitting in a restaurant and eating, have not changed a thing. I have had my kids visit from PA & CO, my parents from NC & NY, and friends from all over. Life continues, common sense rules, and to live in fear is nonsensical.
