Due to COVID19, there have been no breakfasts at Mike's in Kent for several months. Still able to see friends, whether a casual run in, or a scheduled activity. Zoom Zoom and I had a pleasant conversation at a gas station, Art saw me pulling into my driveway and stopped by for a chat, and Bill and I have been enjoying the beauty of our local parks by packing our breakfasts, and meeting up on Thursday mornings. So far, 4-5 mornings of incredibly nice weather, accompanied by good conversation ....... bikes, WW2 planes, current events, whatever comes up.
Met up at State8 parking lot this morning, and rode the couple of miles to a lovely little pull off in the National Park. Life, though somewhat restricted lately, still has many good moments.

Good idea. I’ve met friends at the local bakery where we eat outside or at a local park where we pack lunches.

I've been doing regular Zoom cocktail parties for a group of skiing friends. No reason Guzzisti shouldn't do a Zoom campfire once in a while. Set your laptop up in the garage so we can show off our bikes.

I have several, what I consider good friends, on the forum that I try to talk to at least a couple times a month. Hopefully when the current country’s situation is behind us I hope to have a few of these guys come to NC, stay at our place in the Smokey’s and ride this beautiful Mountain range.

We still have our Third Saturday Southwest Virginia Guzzi Lunch every month, haven't stopped. We meet at the upper pavilion of the Glen Maury Park in Buena Vista, Virginia, space ourselves out (although some are already spaced out), and have a good sociable time.
Riding motorcycles and meeting together is one thing that everyone can still do ... !

We were always taught in "Cultural Diversity" school at my last job not to used country-specific metaphors, like American baseball and football terms, like "they really hit a home run" or "going deep" or "tagging up" .... ! Although maybe cricket has a "left field" too? I have no idea.

Yeah, those "diverthity" classes were already unbearable back when I still worked. Imagine what the poor bastards are having to listen to now.... :lipsrsealed: :afro:

Well, these were a little different from the stuff you get today, and had some practical value. Our company at the time was owned by American, French, and German elements, so we had to deal directly with all three.
If you don't understand the difference between how, say, French and German professionals think of "time management" and "commitments" and "relationships", then unnecessary conflicts and misunderstandings can arise. Just as an example, at an American or German corporate headquarters, the CEOs office will be on the corner on the top floor. At a similar French headquarters, the CEO will be in the middle of the building on the middle floor; it has to do with how they expect to communicate and gather information.
There's a lot of truth in the "stereotypes", but if you don't understand it, you'll never get along ....

I've owned a place in Paris for years but had never worked for a French company till now. Took some getting used to for sure but have learned the ropes and get on well. (took some adjustments in attitude.).
