Title: Inexpensive tire alert Dunlop Trailsmart
Post by: Perazzimx14 on August 28, 2020, 06:53:11 AM
Chap moto AKA Chaparral got a bunch of Dunlop Trailsmart tires and are deeply discounted.  They are radial versions and made in 2016/17 and retain their 5 or 6 year warranty against manufacturers defects starting from the date you purchase them.

Rear are $69.97 and Fronts are $59.97

With PA sales tax I got a set of 150/70-17 & 110/80-19 for less than $140.00 shipped to my door. Such a great deal I got 2 sets :thumb:

Get'em while the gettin's good!

I see they have them in the V7III sizes.  Mmm.

Too bad I am at least a year away from needing a rear tire.

It never hurts having replacement tires at the ready.

They will be pretty old by then won't they?  I'm not going to store them in the house until I need them.  Maybe some other tires will be on sale when I get close to needing them.

My luck, I will buy a set and then a great deal on a V85TT will drop in my lap and I will trade the V7III away.  LOL!

Its not a gallon of milk. They are not going to spoil. The internet lore that tires are only good for X amount of time is BS within reason. It how they are stored. If you keep them dry and out of direct sunlight they are good for a long time.

Even these tires Dunlop offer the full 5 or 6 year warrant from the date they are sold not the made. So if they all sold today the warrant would be good until 2026. If they sell next year the warranty is good until 2027.

This sounds  like a good opportunity for me to experience a set of radial MC tires, which I’ve never tried and mostly because of cost.

Buy a set.  Store them in your basement or closet.

Thanks but doesn't work for me.

"Alaska and Hawaii orders are shipped USPS and shipping rates need to be quoted. Tires are excluded from shipping to these locations."

I think you missed what Slopokes was saying.

Works for him.  Doesn't work for everyone.

Did you get a shipping quote. The tires are discounted by $100's. Still might be worth it if you have to cover some shipping?

They won't ship tires.  That quote is from their shipping page.  I did look through the listed tires.  I always figure that I have to pay for shipping.

The sizes for the V7III are bias ply.  Which of course are what it is spec'd for.

I'm sure someone here will receive tires stateside, repackage and forward onto non-stateside? If shipping from PA makes sense I'll do it.

Thanks.  There are other vendors that do ship.  I'm always on the look out for tires.  Crazy when they use USPS but won't ship tires.  Maybe USPS changed the rules.

Was thinking of doing that, but.... is there any issue with storing tires for future use? I'm thinking of how some rubbers get very hard when stored for long periods of time (and heat cycles).

Mine shipped FedEx. You might want to call/email/text customer service and see if there are options.

Thanks.  FEDEX & UPS ship to Hawaii at a higher rate than USPS.  Our USPS driver does a better job at delivery than the other two.  One thing that's changing is Amazon has expanded their direct shipping to Hawaii.  They started direct cargo flights from March Air Reserve Base, California to Kona and Maui.  They're still refining their operation.  They may be easier to work with in the very near future.  Currently USPS does most of their work here.  So we'll see.  :boozing:
