Title: No bashful bidders here!
Post by: JJ on August 28, 2020, 07:40:49 AM
The SOLD prices on BAT (Bring-A-Trailer) continue to prove that many people out there have a lot of disposable lettuce on hand!     :thumb:

Other than the Gold Wing, those prices seem reasonable to me.  IF the bikes are in very good shape.

Other than the Gold Wing...Agreed...Cer tainly they reflect the "CMV" (Current Market Value) for these models....

The question now, naturally, is which one would you most like to own?  Irrespective of price, I'll take the CBX.  I always had a soft spot for those sixes and I prefer the faired model over the naked.

I've already had a '78 naked GL1000 Gold Wing, so of those four, I would chose the BSA with the Globe sidecar!! :thumb:

Good choice.  That Beezer is a beauty.  I may have to change my vote since I see this is up for auction now:

Fabulous VELO and @ $7500, that is a steal!  With 4 days to go, suspect it will go for much more...  :thumb:

I used to own a CBX just like that. New in a crate, $2997. Bought it after my first Interceptor was stolen as a fill-in before the Interceptor 1000 came out. Sold it to pay tuition a few years later. Always loved it, but it got knocked over and due to a lack of knowledge and hydraulic lock, it ended up with a bent rod and twisted crank. It took a few months to get fixed.

The /2 , it is slow , but it will not only get you to your destination , but make the return trip also , and for inexplicable reasons old beemers are bird pullers .

Here:

That page also has the results of some previous auctions.

Had '79 & '81 CBX's known as Velvet Hammers. 80k on the '81 including a lap of the lower 48.
The '76 here is worth it if you're a GL fan. The TRUE Ltd Edition GL. 1 per dealer. NOT the '85 ltd that was limited to how many they could sell.

Another term for a motorcycle I never heard before..."Bird Puller"

My "GO FAST" days are long over...this generation airheads are another favorite of mine...and relatively affordable also... :thumb:

Dusty, how about a translation for "bird puller".  You mean it attracts birds?

It's a pity that Roper isn't here to tell us about Diana making him breakfast.

iirc, Pete was at a friend's house (I believe he grew up in or near Oxford) when he was a teen.  His friend's parents were out of town so his Aunt was watching the kids and house.  Yep, it was Diana and she cooked them all breakfast.  Pete, naturally, tells it with more humor.  Apparently, she was a very nice unassuming lady and very beautiful in person.

And I can't believe the prices those two bikes went for, JJ.  I know I'm cheap but I must be totally out of the loop, too.

I am also astonished at some of the prices they are getting these days on BAT (Bring-A-Trailer).  Obviously, there are A LOT of people out there with A LOT of disposable lettuce these days...

Here is another stumper!!
