JB weld works as good filler for gouges in rims. I had a set of raw aluminum finish wheels that had several gouges from off road rock hits. I filed off the proud material then filled the gouge. After it was dried I sanded it flush and then blended it to the wheel then polished the lip of the wheel. The grey JB weld was still visible but the wheel was smooth and look better than a ragged gouge.

+1 on the JB weld, make sure formulated for aluminum 👍

Don’t be afraid to take a drimmel tool and clean out the boo-boo a bit as cleaner edges and even a little deeper will allow a cleaner job. Remember JB will go on and spread like bondo and can be worked and smoothed completely out. It also can be painted after it sets up.

I've had good results using an air brush to do light touch up. The key is to find the matching color. Black is probably the easiest.

I never used a air brush but I’m sure in competent hands it would do a good job. On small places I’ve had good results using a small good quality painting brush and a steady hard works really well also.

An air brush is smoother, much easier to use and much more precise than a brush. You can get one for about $20 at a hobby shop. You'd be surprised that many bottle model paints are close matches to many parts and trim.
A brush works fine for "dabs" on chips, but not good for brush marks on scratches. IMO.
