Title: Floppy V7 Gear Lever

Since new the gear lever on my V7 has seemed loose so today I decided to investigate.
Its not that the lever is loose on its pivot, the bolt was flopping around in the footrest bracket.
I wrapped some of Robert Persig's favourite shim material around the head of the bolt to take up some of the play and added Loctite for good measure.
The lever pivots on a nicely machined steel bush with a couple of "O" rings to keep the dirt out so I tightened the nut up tight.
The lever is now solid with no resistance to travel.
A couple of hours well spent.

Roy, if what you are describing is what I think it is, during a warrant check the guy doing the check picked up that the shaft was moving sideways in the bushing.  I machined up a plastic spacer from UHMWPE to take up the play.  Improved the gearchange out of sight, and had the advantage of making the linkage rod to the box almost at 90deg to the two levers.
