Still it's pretty cool what a trail can can reveal.

I've got a wildlife menagerie on my trail-cam files, everything from black bears to coyotes to foxes and everything in between.

The only ones that bother the garden are deer (although my dog stays outside at night on guard, so that's minimized) and raccoons (who get into the corn; I've trapped and relocated three of the little buggers).   I don't begrudge the occasional tomato to the terrapins, and I've put netting over the blueberries because I don't want to have to shoot the otherwise nice songbirds who get more berries than I do if I don't protect them ....

[JJ] - What is the status of that porcine where you live?

Cute and protected?

Or verminous and shoot on site?

A few years ago somebody released a group of wild pigs here in the San Diego back country, in an attempt to establish a huntable population.

Last I heard they didn't succeed, probably not enough water in this area. And the word on the street was you were welcome to kill them any way and any time, and that probably did not help their odds.

They are around, but I personally have never SEEN or CAPTURED a photo of a Porcupine on the Trail Cam. on my property...    I believe they are protected, like most of the wildlife around here...

Here's more POOP!

I move them to the next watershed, about 2 miles away.   If I didn't, they'd be home before I would.   Coons are too cute to dispatch ....

Sorry...MISREAD that one!  "PORCINE" NOT PORCUPINE!!

JAVELINA's are everywhere...and I believe there is a legal hunting season, but they are also protected by law.  $300 fine by AZ Fish & Game if caught feeding them...

Rogue males travel alone...females raise the little ones, (called "REDS"), in small groups. They are quite common through out the state.

They are Collared Peccary, and they came up from Central America,  are NOT related to pigs or those nappy wild European Boars down in Texas and other parts of the South.

One just has to learn to live with them....

"Porcupine translates as "spiny pig," from the Latin porcus, meaning "hog," and spina, meaning "thorn" or "spine."

Hey Foto, I'm surprised you and others haven't mentioned it, but I'm curious if you've ever seen that deer again and how long he had the errant arrow stuck high in his shoulder like that?

I had a friend hit a bull moose with an arrow high in the shoulder with a very similar shot placement, the moose ripped the arrow out within minutes, so I'm surprised to see that the deer in your photo hadn't removed it or broken it off.

Nice camera shots, tks for sharing

    Kelly
