Title: A special Guzzi up for auction
Post by: sdcr on October 02, 2020, 08:08:41 AM
This may be the first Ghezzi & Brian Guzzi on Bring A Trailer. I imagine this will get expensive, if the right enthusiasts see it.

2003 is that a hydro?

2003 is that a hydro?

No. Only the California engines were "hydro", that engine is the same as a V11 Sport.

Some questionable choices there: Power Commander and BUB exhaust? That exhaust is LOUD. Did the owner put that on to set his machine apart from all the other Ghezzis out there?
That frame must have been designed for the 5 speed...

What will the hammer price be? I say $19K

Sadly, only the Tonti frames got the hydro. Too bad as they have a nice broader power band.

Cool bikes but best suited for the younger riders or life long yoga practitioners. Pretty radical riding position. More so than a Daytona.

I'd be in for $1500.

My luck I'd get and it wouldn't have oil pressure.

It has the better 5 speed for playing in the Malibu Hills.   :thumb: 6 speed trans. suck.  Anyone know how much lighter this is than a stock oem V11 Sport?  This bike would REALLY get me into trouble w/ :copcar:

I could of sworn that I saw a Ghezzi-Brian Supertwin in the La Jolla Indian reservation at the apex of route 76 and Church road or thereabouts about 8+ years ago. You can't have one of those for the street but they are on Federal land. I can't remember what I was riding but I knew full well of Ghezzi-Brian and it just did a full double take as I passed by. Maybe I was hallucinating...

Bub exhaust? I'd be suspicious of its owner - really.
But,  If someone from far away buys the bike I would fly/ride the bike to my house & keep it ready for any time he/she wants to ride New England. It's black. It will not be confused w/the Daytona or other red bikes sharing its shrine.  Hello!  R3~

: 6 speed trans. suck.

In what way?
The Gearbox on my Stelvio is one of the best I've experienced in 40yrs of Riding.
Clutchless changes up and down the'Box are smooth and easy, maybe helped a little by reversing the pattern to 1-up, 5-down, but it was fine before I did that.

My point regarding this particular BUB exhaust is that it's L O U D. Have you owned or even ridden a bike with one? I have; it came with my Spot 1100. Far louder than any BUB I've ever heard. Put it back to stock as soon as I could. Also, the Quat D  exhaust on that bike is super exotic and not all that loud, IIRC. This might be the only time where a BUB is not an upgrade...

?? Me? I know from where the bike would originate. I've been doing this for some time; including a few border crossings when most motorcycles crossed with a wave and smile/salute.  BTW: Not so w/10K gallons of pure grain alcohol + escort.  R3~

My first bike was 1968 Suzuki Titan 500.  This was before they became part of the GT series.  Now called a GT500.  Second bike was a 1972 Suzuki GT750 aka the Water Buffalo or Tea Kettle for you.  That was some history.  I currently own one of every model change for the sport Moto Guzzis.  1973 V7Sport to a V11 Sport LeMans Nero Corsa.  Sport 1100 carb and i models plus Daytona 1000 and Daytona RS.  A bunch of Tontis and Loops.  Latest to the fleet is a Cal 1400 Touring.

The 6 speed trans. gives a little faster take off from a stop but doesn't work fully for Alpen style riding.  Moving at speed going through hair pin turns and working a switchback.  Too much shifting on a 6 speed.  If you stay on flats and only do sweeper turns then a 6 speed works.  The terrain where I ride is more like the area around Mandello del Lario.
