2020 started off with constant work travel until I was called home in the middle of March because of the
[redacted] scare.
During those first 3 months I was able to do weekend camping and riding in the state forests which started me thinking about getting a toy hauler.
Then [redacted] hit and the first thing I wanted to do was make the toy hauler a reality, but all the dealers were shut down. Then I got the idea to go ahead and covert my enclosed trailer into a rustic toy hauler.
Thanks to that build, and no work travel, I was able to take 9 motorcycle trips ranging from 3 days to a week each up into the mountains of North Georgia, North Carolina, and Eastern Tennessee. I am adding Kentucky to that list this month.
I was also finally able to do several different motorcycle forum rides because I wasn't away on work travel as in years past.
I also had time for a lot more local riding, wrenching on the bikes, and test riding many different bikes I was interested in.
The work travel is a double edged sword. I need the extra income earned living on the road to fund my hobbies, but the work travel keeps me from enjoying my hobbies as much as I have this year.

Double-edged swords like that are what keep life interesting as we juggle responsibilities. fun I suppose.
Envious of all those trips. No big ones for me this year. I’m only looking at 4,500 miles accumulated since January, but that’s more due to a fractured ankle early on and deciding to date someone an hour away who doesn’t like to ride motorcycles (ugh, life decisions). Next year, however I’m looking at two to four BDM trips (Mid-Atlantic and/or New England in June, and a route or two out west).
Finally, I’ll say it you won’t—- 19. There, I said it. It’s hospitalized and killed enough people around the world to earn its label and not be considered a political jab. Moving on...

Sounds like an ex-girlfriend to me.

I've seen some sweet bikes come out of that rustic toy hauler and they tweren't that rustic... :whip2:

your toy hauler looks sweet, the dehumidifier if you can't have AC is a great idea, based on where you like to travel! (at least thats what I think I saw)

Thanks. I run a portable room AC, but there were times when it was cool and humid so the AC didn't help much. Now, in addition, I carry a dehumidifier and a ceramic heater to cover all environments.

ENVIOUS!!

Good for you...and it sounds like you made the most of a precarious situation.
For me, 2020 was "The Lost Year"...tampered and neutered... - No Cottonwood N.A.R., no Datil New Mexico Rally, no Lake Henshaw N.A.R., and now, no Mecum vintage MC Auction in Vegas in January 2021.
Oh well, not the end of the world... I was just glad to make an overnight, 540-mile, round trip RIDE to Hannagan's Meadow Lodge in the cool White Mts. with some friends in early June. Plus, local rides around the scenic Verde Valley have been pleasant and appreciated.

my formal riding schedule cut also, but, lots of local riding. in the spring, went to Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground with my son on his Duck for a 3 day riding weekend. finally got to the KY rally 2 weekends ago, again my son and this time his female companion joined in on his new to him Africa Twin. Friday, going to a great area, me and him called the Hocking Hills in Ohio - many, many good roads, new tires on the v85. Not a total loss, but missed many good riding friends.
ride on.
